you should have tested it by attaching it to the ceiling, where all smoke detectors are located...your test only showed the bottom part of your body...if a burglar is sneaking around you want to video HIS FACE so the cops can identify him...also if you set it on motion detection...does the video mode shut itself off after the motion stops?

Would have been nice if you had put the smoke detector on the ceiling to show what it looks like and the angle of pictures it takes. No one is going to leave a smoke detector on a stand like you did. How about an update and show what it looks like taking video on the ceiling like it should be.

I have tried 2 different brands of micros sd cards and I still no video. It will take a picture, but no video. It will record the sound while the motion sensor video is activated, but no video. Any suggestions?

To reset the unit since it is not working properly just turn the switch located inside the unit off and wait for about 10 seconds and turn it back on. You will be able to tell when it is back on because you will get a blue stand by lite. Then use the remote and turn the unit on. Once you see the lites blink it is now ready to select a mode. Push the the motion video mode button on the remote and I think you will see a lite come on and go off on the unit. It is creating a video. After that I have never seen the unit show a lite when another video is started. I can wave my hand in front and I still do not see a lite come on but it does create a new video. Also this video shows a blue lite come on and go off when it starts to record. My unit has no lite that comes on when I set it into motion video mode. It just records a 3 min video and then saves that file. When it detects motion again it will start another video for 3 min and store it. Since you put it into motion detect video you need to remember when you return to use the remote and push motion video again and wait for the lites to blink showing that the detection video mode is off. Then use the remote to turn the unit completely off. Do not worry about turning the switch on the inside of the unit off. Leave that switch on.

Ditto. It takes pics with remote or records audio but will not record video with the motion detection or remote operating it. Is it bc it needs a TF card? I don’t know what the diff btwn tf and sd cards.

Thank you so much, I recently ordered one (locally) and got it in the mail today. I was able to turn it on just once and a blue and red light lit up. I haven't been succesful at taking a picture or recording yet. I have yet to charge it up though. So I'm going to do that first and then see if it works. If it still doesn't work, I'll replace the battery in the remote controller. If by then it still doesn't work then I'll have to send it back in. Seems neat though. Thanks for these very clear step-by-step instructions. Saved me a lot of time and headaches!

You show taking a photo, or getting sound you have to use a remote. As a spy camera you will not be around to use a remote. How does it take a photo? Does it take only videos with motion detection? From the way they advertised this unit you will get photos or videos which ever you wanted by use of the motion detection application but your review shows that only the video can be set to motion detection. Since your video shows taking pictures with the remote is the only way to get a still picture the unit is somewhat useless as a spy camera unless you just want videos. I am already beginning not to like this one. Hmmmm.

I recently ordered one I have the same issue and have been at trying to resolve the issue for the past 48 hours no luck, Also the automated software installer just does not install through the windows 7 update installer, the instruction leaflet says if it does not change the computer, wow, they instructional leaflet also have typographical errors and no links or website to go to to address issues or even contact numbers for technical support, bad item to purchase, I think piece of junk.

How can landlords use this kind of smoke detector to spy on our privacy inside of our apartments? Lately they placed one in my apartment and it has 2 lens on it and one striped opening (for the sound). One of the lens keeps flashing every 30 seconds. When I asked the landlord why it's flashing, she said it's a sign that the battery is not down yet. I guess they have a spy camera in there?
