Negative comments do not help those trying to learn folks. Your doing fine. It's not rocket science. Find what works for you in your area. I applaud you for having knowledge enough to experiment with something cheap. Curing is a dying art. Our ancestors did it to survive and didn't have a college degree. Keep on trying. To live and learn is a blessing.

Gracious! Thank you for such a kind compliment! He's always embarrassed for me to show his work, because he's so worried about mistakes. I'm always super proud of the things he builds because he figures it out. Your comment left him at a loss for words other than, "Wow! He said what? Read it again." 😆 He said to please tell you thank you. I hope you have a beautiful, blessed Christmas as well! -Janet

@@williamjones6053 , thank you so incredibly much! We will be getting back to more of the homesteading focus just as soon as Christmas is done. I am mostly recording our Christmas Around the World traditions for a couple weeks with a few different videos possibly sprinkled in.

@@williamjones6053 , thank you. No, we definitely aren't. Lol! We just like learning and doing things for ourselves when/where we can without making ourselves miserable to prove that we can be 1000% self-sustaining. People need people and community, and many people need to be needed to continue to do what they love.

So should you use pressure treated wood or not? I wouldn’t want chemicals in my meat, but Is it actually going to touch the meat in any way.
@mymodernhomestead7 ай бұрын
No, your food isn't touching the meat, and there should be no high heat. I would say to research and use what you are comfortable with. My husband used fencing slats on the outside. The inside is non-treated wood.

It takes 12-14 days to smoke meat.

Cool. We smoke them, vacuum seal them, and freeze them until we are ready to grill them.
