You clearly disclosed it, it is helpful content for those of us that own the unit already. Plus, like you said it was not a review, but a demo of a feature

I liked the Sonicware overview (not review). I didn't feel you had any bias and it presented the update in a way that really sold it. I think Sonicware got a win by hiring you to do it and you earned that check. Good work! True to the channel!

I thought it was a good vid, I have a smpltrek and your channel has given me both know how and also inspiration - I love your enthusiasm, and if you get paid for doing what you love that's a bonus, it's not the same as selling your soul, don't overthink it or doubt yourself, we're on your side and want you to do well 👍

I think the video went well. You could tell you were excited and enthusiastic about it. It did kind of read as scripted, but not in a fake way. As long as it's disclosed and they're not "buying" your opinion, I see no issue with getting paid for your work!

All of your Smpltrek videos have been top tier, including the paid content. I appreciate your care for integrity with this and hope more companies pay you! This 2.0 update has really put the device on another level, it is getting very close to being able to replace Korg Gadget 2 as a portable composition brain and surpasses it easily for sampling/live audio. Once the OS has midi mute from the mixer screen I'll be fully onboard, but I continue to be more happy with my investment as time goes on.

IMO it was well done and professional sounding. Definitely get paid by companies that want to pay you for making content. You're doing work and making a living from it. Good on you. I hope more of these opportunities present themselves.

Congratulations on the paid content 😁👌 I have the same policy, the tutorials I make are like a video manual so I'm careful not to inject any of my opinions into them as this would not be fair. I also include a "synthesisers supplied by Sonicware" card (when I remember!) so people know I've not paid for the device. I don't really do reviews actually, showing how a device works is not the same in my opinion. But if you want to be super careful you can always tick the "paid content" button upon upload

Yeah it's definitely a bit of a tight rope walk to get it right I think. I think I could have done a better job leaving my own personal opinions out of the video ("Another new feature is," instead of "another feature I really like is"), but I'm sure that'll come over time. Thanks for watching as always! Loved your video as well :)

@@FreeBeat He could use a guy like you, who's job it is, to talk about hardware, and probably the stages of it's firmware...multiple times a week....... 😉

Seems like the first way you dit it is much better/easier/safer. The second way required many button presses and you couldn't test the volume first which led to some rocky transitions. I thought the 2.0 video was really good and very professional. If I had to be picky I could say you spoke a little too fast. You should get paid for things like that, nothing wrong with that!
@ChrisLodyMusic Жыл бұрын
The quick sampling method uses the settings from the new sampling menu which includes sample normalisation so I think that's what was happening here. The looper audio was not normalised but the quick sampling was and so it was much louder.
@vertigev Жыл бұрын
@@ChrisLodyMusic Ah ok, that makes sense. But what's the point of using the new quick sampling menu instead of a regular loop track workflow? Just seems like more steps as you have to add the sound to the track after recording it instead of having it play right after you recorded automatically. Maybe I'm missing something?
@FreeBeat Жыл бұрын
The 2nd way is a lot better for live performance, since you can just do it on the fly without having to stop anything. Thanks for watching!
@vertigev Жыл бұрын
@@FreeBeat I just did it using the first way without stopping the sequencer so not sure what mean. Looking at your example in this video, there are two problems for using this live: 1. You have to manually start the sample after recording so you will miss a bar (as it showed in your video). 2. The normalization makes it unpredictable so not usable live (as it showed in your video), maybe this can be turned off? Again, maybe I'm just missing something. Still love the SmplTrek and your videos!
@pugnation Жыл бұрын
I kind of liked your firmware video, all the better if you got paid for it. Perhaps a bit too fast for my feeble mind. To make it more usable you could put timestamps with the corresponding topic on the video, more work, but very helpful for a how to video😉
