The story is very present in most of the souls games, it’s just hidden behind environmental story telling and item descriptions. Elden Ring is more traditional story telling that has NPCs telling you what is happening. Also regarding difficulty, I feel the difficulty of the souls games is integral, and in elden ring has retained the difficulty, it just has given players more options to confront encounters e.g. summons, open world farming, more flexible builds.

Every time I see people complain about wanting an easy mode in fromsoft games for accessibility reasons they are never the person with disabilities, they're just dog shit at the game and refuse to learn how the game wants you to play, like no shit the boss is gonna kill you if you don't learn their attack patterns and try to out damage the demon man 2x your size. It seems less like they want to enjoy fromsoft games and more like they refuse to admit the games just aren't for them. Also to follow up all of this, i'm not great at these games I don't have good reaction times and i die a lot, I just persevere and finish them because how good that feeling of overcoming the bosses is.

Naruto is definitely a slow burn show. It has amazing moments, but almost all of them have backstories interrupting them, which hasn't aged well. It's a lot like one piece in that respect. I basically watch it because not enough good anime is out, it was on Toonami, I'm an anime fan, and have friends who watch it. Naruto Kai (look up naruspot tv) basically cuts out the filler, which made it much easier to watch, but still very slow.

I've never played a FromSoftware game myself, it didn't appeal to me so I didn't play it but I also didn't cry out for an easy mode so I could play. Demon/Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and now Elden Ring are difficult games and people need to stop being so entitled. FromSoft created a game with a particular gameplay style and that is how the devs planned for it to be played and if those devs don't want to add an easy mode they shouldn't be forced to do so.

The people that complain about Souls games not having an easy mode are the same people complaining about the narrative being cryptic. When the whole narrative in these games is suffering but overcoming difficult challenges. Adding an easy mode makes that narrative inconsequential. I mean Dark Souls had a "Prepare to Die" edition ffs. The games being difficult in an industry where games have become very hand holding was the entire draw.

The game with an easy mode would probably make it a waste of time. The challenge is a part of the content. Why would you have any investment in a game where the story is very cryptic, you have barely any idea what you are killing, where you are killing it or why, and then it dies in a few hits and serves no threat to you. so what you end up with is, wandering into the darkness, snuffing out a little candle light, and leaving the darkness. Kind of pointless and a waste of time. however if you add challenge into that mix, while leaving everything else the same. You feel that dopamine after winning a hard fight yes, but then you have to ask yourself. Why did I go through all that!? There is no 'going through of all of that' if it's easy. and so if you marry the idea of a challenging fight to deep lore behind what you did, where you did it and why you did it. It brings forth a feeling of value and self accomplishment. If you make it easy, it loses alot of the value and self accomplishment. It separates you the player from the world a bit more because you didnt struggle on screen or in real life, that struggle adds to the immersion. humans remember and are more susceptible to bad things, hard things, things that inflict fear in us. If everything is sunshine and rainbows it's easy to forget them. That's why more ppl hold grudges than promises. Thats why you will always hear about and remember what you did wrong more often than what you did right. We are more sensitive to those negative emotions. Challenge allows for negative emotions, memorable negative emotions. and if you persist despite the challenge and over come it, the reward is very very potent.
