Gday Robbo, You Skippies have come up with a bonza bit of kit ay! Poms from UK canoeing club we picked the large one up a yr ago an goes with our motto, Leave nothin behind. We can cut drift an wind blown wood to 12 inches an around 6inches thick, let it turn to embers an cook a complete meal with added tripod as well. Bloody great idea as far as fire safety an damage left behind. This bit of kit IS the best out there no questions. It also is as tough as nails mate. As poms say, it’s the doggo’s bollocks mate!!! 10out of 10 from some very appy canoers an poms mate

How do the tables look as they're used more I wonder... just as bad as the stove?

What kind of pods did you use? What is on top of the pot? white stuff? Also what is the name of the device you use to lift the lid?

That is a Uniflame 12" Camp oven. The white stuff on top of the pot is charcoal. The lid lifter is aone you can pick up from most camp stores. Has a spring handle to dissipate the heat

Do you find that the table is too close to the fire to be practical? Just wondering how much it actually gets used or if you have another table further away that you use more. How hot does the table get?

I would be interested in your thoughts on the ozpig vs the snowpeak firefit given you have both, I have the ozpig and am very fond of it. It's a somewhat large for big trips but for up to a week away where space it not at a premium it has been fantastic. It's very economical on wood, very versatile for cooking and you can set it up close to your camp with peace of mind that if a wind comes up it's not going to set fire to anything.

Hi Stephan, Yeah. We took it both out on our last trip to see what we think we will need. The ozpig was great for cooking the roast and it is good in the sense that you could cook in inclament weather I guess? I have not done that but it is a possibility. The size and weight of the ozpig is somewhat of a downside, however. I think eventually I will get a rotisserie for the snowpeak set and use it. When we did our cook up there was no smoke and it was lovely and warm. I imagine putting it under an awning would be fine in that case. As long as you didn't have huge flames. I like the snowpeak as well due to the way it packs up. Lightweight and it is versatile. I am actually thinking perhaps I might sell the ozpig and use the Snowpeak setup. We could take that on almost all trips where as I couldn't say the same with the ozpig. If you try using charcoal, you will find the heat and longevity of the fire is great. We still had hot coals in there in the morning. I get the impression one should stir the coals around every so often to let the oxygen get to them? So if you have the ozpig and like it. Stick with it. If you have the snowpeak, from my experience so far, I'd say to use it instead. We will only be bringing the snowpeak firepit on the drifta weekend. Makes most sense for us.

@@acafwd awesome - I just bought a medium plate; it appears to be 2” shorter on each side. Do you think this would be okay?
