I wanted to minimize and appreciate my gear a little more, so I'm trying something new for 2025. Tell me what you think in the comments below!

As soon as I started this video, I said to my self, this guy sounds like a preacher, this was even before you mentioned someone donated a computer to the church. My current On Person EDC is a little insane, but it DEFINITELY covers BASICALLY everything, I have bags as well though/I hike/camp/fish/hunt as well, and surprisingly, no I'm not a red neck, but I have noticed, that it seems like A LOT of rednecks enjoy these past times, but I have different prepping bags, on top of my On Person EDC and EDC Bag, for example, I have a vehicle bag, with tools/a jumper/a compact device that can put air in my tires/jacks/lug wrench, for changing a tire/tire patch kit/spare tire/vehicle scanner tool/blankets/warm clothes/fans/water filtration/food and so on, I have tool bags, all of my tools, are either in bags, or can go in a bag, I don't own anything, that I don't have enough bags, to put the things I own in, I have a big computer/electronics bag, I also have a big over flow bag as well, a bag that basically houses things like extra water filters, extra cables/cords/anything that I rotate, use wise, but I have individual bags for canned foods/other things as well, I have a wilderness survival bag, I have a camp cooking bag, I have an urban survival bag, I also have a fishing bag as well/I use/have the Kastking Karryall backpack, as my fishing bag, and all of my bags, are backpacks/I DEFINITELY prefer backpacks, my tool bags aren't all backpacks though/I have one tool backpack, I have two sling backpack like, tool bags, and the rest are traditional tool bags, I also have a cargo van as well, with 4 wheel drive, V8, good/bigger tires, lifted/reinforced, a winch, I have a small covered trailer, that you can stand up in/I'm 6-1 and there is still some room above me, MAYBE a 6-2 or 6-3 person could also stand without hunching , my main point is, On Person EDC/the things that are in your pockets/on your belt/that aren't in a bag, are really important, but its not the only thing that matters, and I keep other things in my EDC backpack/I have a few different back packs that are empty, that I use as my EDC backpacks, I have a massive empty backpack, I have a medium size backpack, that I usually use/I use it the most, and my EDC/non-on person EDC goes in it/stays in it, most of the time, and I have a smaller sling like back pack, and then I have one really small sling backpack, so I rotate between 4 EDC backpacks, depending on what im doing that day, I'm sure I have SOME redundancy with all of this, but it allows me to probably leave my house, without worrying about much, in BASICALLY any situation, at least when it comes to being prepared, or worrying about never going back to my house, if need be/if I evacuated and somehow my house got destroyed, I would still be prepared, granted, when I built my house, I didn't build it with twigs, and I heavily reinforced it, not only the outside, but I also added materials in the inside, for the walls/I sound proofed every room, so If im working with loud machines, or hammering/drilling, other parts of the house cant hear whats going on, in other rooms, I also used fire retardant materials, anytime I could as well, I also did things like allow EVERYTHING to have a valve, plumbing wise, bathtubs,toilets,sinks, every few feet has a valve as well, along with a whole house shut off valve, inside and out side, also all of my outlets/breakers are 20amp or better/higher/I have no 15amp breakers OR outlets in my house, I also have #10/orange wire, through out my entire house, I have the regular code stuff, like Ark Fault breakers/GFCI breakers/combination breakers, I also have a whole house surge/EMP protector, on the outside of my house and on the inside of my house, obviously my electrical system/my house is grounded as well, I went with a metal/steel roof, I used hurricane straps, I used hurricane windows, I used/have metal/steel hurricane shutters, I don't live in an area that gets hurricanes, or many tornados, but my goal is to not have to worrie about replacing materials on the outside of my house, for 50+ years, the outside of my house has hardie board/cement fiber, with an oak backer that is 7 and a half inches thick, I also waterproofed/used flashing, I also made sure all water could flow away from my house, basically no matter what, so elevated reinforced pumps, to pump water out and away from my house, if need be, I also have solar and battery backups as well, I also have guards for my gutters, so im not constantly having to clean them out, I also went with a commercial dishwasher as well, which I did have to modify a drain for, but it allows me to get 2 minute dishwasher cycles/it saves A LOT of time, most houses now days, are built like garbage, in the US especially, I know this was A LOT, but heres my On Person EDC/the things that arent in bags, This is my current On Person EDC, I have a headlamp, that has red light and white light modes, and different brightness levels as well, it also has a flashing/signaling/attention getting/SOS mode as well, the headlamp also goes upto 1,500 lumens, it also charges VIA USB Type C as well, I keep a 20thousand MAH wireless portable battery bank, thats red and black, that has a wireless charger built into it, my phone is the *Razor Phone 2*, with my own custom software, I keep an EDC flashlight thats built like a tank, I keep a red and black Ridge wallet, A LOT of times, SOMETIMES I keep a chain Wallet, I also have *the Chicago combes portable comb, thats in a sheath*, when it comes to my Keys, my keys have an item that looks like a key on it, that is actually a little foldable blade, a ferro rod, a bottle opener, a seat belt cutter/window breaker, foldable nail clippers, keychain tweezers, a key chain flashlight, *a P51 can opener*, a pry bar, all of my keys and tools, on my key ring, can come off easily/I use *the Quick-Disconnect Nite-Ize S-Biner with Micro-Lock*/thats what their called, but it allows me to take anything off of my keyring, in seconds, but if I don't want them to come off, they won't, more specifically, as the base, I start with just one big thick sturdy key ring, then I connect that Key ring to a *red Sturme Carabiner, that has the twisting lock on it*, then I connect all of my keys, and tools, individually to the Nite Ize Quick disconnects, that have locks on them/ again their called, Quick-Disconnect Nite-Ize S-Biner with Micro-Lock, then I connect all of my keys, that are on the Nite-Ize Quick Connects, to the big sturdy key ring, that has the Sturme Carabiner on it; I also like to have multiple knives, for different purposes, a total of three, I like having a separate knife, for food related tasks, I like having a box/package opener/dirtier task opener, I like keeping a full tang knife/ *the ESEE Knives Izula-B w/Handle Molded Polymer Sheath and Clip Plate*, because it can handle things that I don't like using my regular knife for, I also have *the Milwaukee fast back/box cutter*, to mainly open boxes/packages, but also, because it has a screw driver on it/a bit connector, I keep a square little case, that holds any bit you can think of, including P-Bits, T-Bits, H-Bits, R-Bits, SL-Bits, it also has an extender bit, for the Milwaukee FastBack, so you can easily get down in computer cases/the extender allows it to act as more of a traditional screwdriver, I also have a bit holder, that has sockets in it, for the Milwaukee Fast Back as well, I also have *the Red CIVIVI Stormhowl Pocket Knife*, which comes in Damascus, not the Nitrov version/ the red version comes in Damascus, I really like this knife, because it keeps a good edge, for a good while, it seems easy enough to sharpen, on my Diamond sharpener, its a flipper knife, it also has a button lock, so its easy to deploy and retract, one handed, I also like the way the knife looks as well, I have A LOT of knives, in D2, S35VN and Magnacut steel, but this is my current EDC knife, the Red Stormhowl knife, I also have a pen/ *the BASTION Bolt Action Red Pen*, I also keep an electric waterproof lighter/ the *Explorer LcFun Arc Lighter, in Red, which has the pull out/retractable wand*/the original version had a fixed like piece, for the lighting part, this version has a pull out/retractable/pliable lighter extension part, lights wise I have the *WUBEN C3 Rechargeable 1200 Lumens flash lights*, I have the *LED flashlight APLOS L02 1000 Lumens Rechargeable keychain Flashlight*, I also have the *Nitecore TUP 1000 Lumen RCHRGBL Keychain Flashlight Black*, I also have and keep the *Outdoor Edge 4.5" Flip N' Zip Saw*, which comes with its own belt sheath, I also have and keep the *KNIPEX 5-Inch Wrench Pliers*, I also have the *IRWIN needle Nose pliers which are 5-1/4-Inches*, I keep my pliers in the *Black 1680D Belt Sheath Pouch Holder for KNIPEX Cobra Pliers, which Fit 5-7Inch pliers*, I have two of these, for each of my pliers, I also have and keep the *ST1 Leather Sheath - EDC Belt Organizer* as well, to keep my pockets freed up, as much as possible, I know thats a lot, but thats my current EDC, the ST1 Leather Sheath - EDC Belt Organizer, is SOMEWHAT of a new edition to my EDC, but in my opinion the ST1 Leather Sheath - EDC Belt Organizer is indispensable.

I’m fascinated by whether folks routinely use their EDC. I keep a set of tools in my garage and in my car so I don’t really need them to carry anything. I love EDC stuff but I rarely use anything I have. I just use my full set of tools that are always handy. I do also have a multitool in most rooms of my house. But I don’t know when I’d ever need to have smaller tools on my person at all times. I’d love to hear how everyone else uses theirs. I do have a pen, Rovyvon flashlight, tiny spyderco, and flash drive on my keychain and I do use all of that frequently.

I also have tool sets scattered across my house as well but, the stuff in my pockets is more of a "get it done quick" type thing. Yeah I have pliers in my truck's tool bag but I also have a set of pliers on my leatherman in my pocket. So I'd much rather use the stuff in my pockets than go and look for the tool in my tool bag. Now, that's for light /regular maintenance jobs, for the heavy stuff, or just a job that I need specific tools for, I'll use the bigger tools in my tool bag.

I absolutely love the idea of a EDC for an entire year, I feel inspired to try it myself. The EDC community has turned into such an expensive fad. They use a knife for a week or day until the next one comes in. A annual EDC is a very cool idea I’ll join in on. I would personally not pick a crossbar lock for an annual EDC. I live on the west coast and everything from hunting, fishing, hiking and SAND from taking the fam to the coast. Crossbars get filthy and gritty. Drives me crazy to be the knife guy and the only one having issues consistently taking apart his knife and cleaning it. A liner lock…potentially shark… may be a runner up for me. I’ll have to think on it and put something together. Nice video!! All nice items.

Not to send you down a rabbit hole, but if you haven’t checked out Traveler’s notebooks, I’m a big fan. You can keep different removable inserts in one notebook. So you can have a dated planner in one and a separate one for notes. When one gets full you can replace just that insert. It comes in a large standard size and a smaller passport size. I keep a weekly planner insert that lasts 6 months, an insert for all of the things I want to track for 2025, an insert for my 2025 book club, and an insert for commonplace/notes. At the 6 month mark I swap out the daily log. At the year mark I swap out the tracker and book club insert. The common place book I can keep in as long as I want or until it gets full. The leather covers are beautiful, but you can get third party ones from Etsy. Same with the inserts. You can buy the official ones, specialty ones made by craftspeople, or make your own. My commonplace insert is made from the same paper inside of your Hobonichi. The TN system is wonderful. It gives you the flexibility of having multiple notebooks that you can change at anytime, but with the minimal form factor of a single notebook.

I own the Knipex Cobra Pliers and Wrench Pliers, both in 10-inch and in smaller 6-inch sizes (so 4 in total). Today, I went to Lowes and they have a Kobalt 2-pc Mini Pliers set that work EXACTLY the same as the Knipex for $12. They were sitting in that middle section between the tool section and the regular aisles. Go get some before the price goes back up, especially if you don't already own the Knipex (or just get them as gifts for your loved ones). And then please reply to my comment after you check them out. Regarding your knife recommendation, if you like that Civivi, the Civivi Elementum 2 is really nice with a button lock. Love the notebook you have.

I don't know that any Civivi product will hold up as a one-and-only pocket knife. So I'm interested to see your quarterly check ins. The knives I carry most are Spyderco Endela, Demko AD20.5 and the new Winterblade Veyron. Given diminishing returns many may view the Veyron as to not be worth the cost. The other two are indestructible. Cheers!

@@RAID5_Aesthetic A good Civivi, I think, is the “Elementum 2”. What I have in my pocket right now is the Spyderco Para 3. I also own a Chris Reeve Inkosi and a Hogue Deka, but I carry the Spyderco the most. The Elementum and the Elementum 2 differ in the way they close. The Civivi Utility has a button too and that’s also nice. It’s a utility blade that has the most blade surface I’ve seen on a utility blade.

Agree with Fenix. I converted a couple years ago from a Streamlight fanboy to a Fenix lover. I now own 5 of their flashlights, 2 headlamps, and a lantern. I just bought a Rovyvon A8 for my keychain though. Its small, powerful, rechargeable, Has normal flash light, red and white lantern style light, and black light, plus magnetic tail and clip for positioning it. Other than that, I carry a Leatherman Skeletool RX and a Spiderco Para2 with the full serrated blade at all times and a couple other items in a small crossbody on occasion, like pen, Gerber Prybrid, earbuds, lighter, Fenix PD36R, ect.

Another great video, thanks! 👏 2024 was my first foray into the EDC community, and I've finally figured some things out about what works for me, thanks to your channel and others. I'll continue to carry the Yonder (awesome knife) and alternating it with my favorite Ben Petersen knives (Lander 3 and Banter 2) and some knives I love from Vosteed (Marten, Corgi V, and Parallel). For a multitool, I've come back to the Skeletool, but I'm going to attempt to mod it to swap out the knife for some Victorinox scissors. I carried the SOG Powerpint for a while -- it's the perfect size for me and has such great pliers -- but I just can't live with the scissors. I work in an office, so good scissors are a must. I also really like the Roxon KS (talk about nice scissors!). Thank you for all you do and for doing it with a positive and helpful attitude!

@LandmanEDC I've had a Stream Light ProTac 1AAA for a while. Whenever the battery gets low, it becomes erratic, but once the battery is replaced, it works fine. Andt the rubber covering the push button has popped off a couple of times. So it has to be checked on occasion to make sure the cap is still tight. I got the ProTac 1L 1AA for Christmas. I will see how well it works out, but I will keep the AAA version as part of my work EDC. If it pops out of my pocket while working it won't be a big loss. Where do you find most of your edc patches?
@LandmanEDC

Etsy mostly. I'm not too big into the high-demand collectible patches, I just like neat ones with stuff I like on them.

@@MouseCIick I tend to agree with you, but unless I’m traveling (which I would have to adjust this for plane flights specifically), then why would I have it confiscated? I can absolutely understand losing it though.

I have to find a new EDC knife. Benchmade has disconnected my knife 3551 Stimulus. So I have retired it. I'm carrying a basic rough rider trapper built from a kit until I find something to replace it.

I’m not saying my knife is better or worse than yours. I like carrying my Tops XCest Delta. It’s beastly. It does the jobs I need it to. For a sheath knife I like my Benchmade Puuko… Pukko… my spelling sucks.

What's your thoughts on the Yonder vs the Vosteed Raccoon?
@LandmanEDC
@LandmanEDC Күн бұрын
So if there was a MINI Raccoon, I would be all over it. The Raccoon is a GREAT knife, but a little too big and heavy for me to carry every day. I just love everything about the Yonder's size and ergonomics. Thanks for your question!

So about the gift - it’s rad. It’s awesome no doubt. But the lock is worn out. It comes open in my pocket, which is obviously not good at all. I’m going to try to fix it.

Oh, you keep that in your car. Now I get it. Edit: not trying to be mean or anything, I actually like that pouch but there is no way I can carry that without a jacket, so it wont work.
@LandmanEDC
@LandmanEDC 8 сағат бұрын
Right, I would rarely carry this in a pocket. It IS possible since it's so small, but I wouldn't want to do that. For the winter time, it lives in my jacket because I know I'll have that with me too. But yes, for the rest of the time this will live in my car.

So many channels display “every day carry” that they keep in their car, toolbox, locker, desk, etc. Preparedness is different than edc. think the real point is being missed. I wish these channels would show how they carry all this stuff. Pocket sized is a misleading statement to say the least. Micarta can be dyed if you want items to match such as the pen and knife scales.

@ I wasn’t trying to sound as negative about the Yinder as it came off when I re-read it. I Love Civivi and own about 12. The Yonder just didn’t fit my personal likes. You said it best, everyone has their likes. I should also note the Bel Air is about twice the price, lol. I just wanted the Magnacut on an Axis EDC. The Task just “Fit my hand better” and regardless of features and materials, that’s a very important factor. That’s why I carry is more than the Bel Air. Thanks for your input and work making the video.

Using TN passport size notebook and pen paired with mechanical watch omg the feeling. If it feels lovely like it is in a couple of months i will sell iPhone and buy one of those b&w phones and maybe some small upgrades to mech edc 😊 i am no anti tech i live and work with mac and pc but enough is enough. Only smartwatch started to feel like work arrest ankle bracelet. Lets go try minimal approach there is nothing to lose 🎉
