Thanks Lucy. This is a great way to get your toes finished without worrying about doing the Kitchener stitch.

Learning to graft this way, can guide you into much more complex grafting situations with ease. See my Finesse Your Knitting 1 DVD for many more applications.

This is brilliant! I could never visualize what was happening with Kitchener. I really like how you start in the center also.

Thanks so much Lucy :) I've just been learning how to do flip top mittens and tried twice to do the kitchener grafting. Each time it seemed that I did it correctly and then it wouldn't pull right when I was done. This way I know I can actually do it! I was getting so frustrated before this. I totally agree with Gulten Argamak!

Delighted that this works for you - it also leads you into using waste yarn for far more complex situations. Check my Fearless Knitting - Empowering Techniques for Every Knitter class on Craftsy or my Finesse Your Knitting 1 DVD for further exploration.

Kitchener stitch is SO easy, this looks just messy, how hard can it be just to understand kitchener stitch,? you are just linking two sides together without all this extra work. Sometimes I have to repeat a technique again and again before realising something is easy. I found it hard to follow a continental knitter doing the german short row for heels, when I watched a British knitter it became clear how easy it really was. Thank goodness for KZbin and these instructional videos, my mother taught me to do basic knitting but I now know far more than she ever did. I will add this video to my library and remember it for any of my friends who are struggling, it is yet another take on joining two sides together.

Thanks for you feedback - I agree grafting is wonderfully easy once you get the concept. But based on 25+ years of teaching, many knitters find it challenging. This method I feel makes both corners equally neat and in particular aids left hand sewers, those whose stitches sit unconventionally on the needles, and introduces the idea of copying waste yarn stitches which can later be applied to far more challenging situations, such as lace, textured stitches, two-colour knitting and even double knitting. I have an extensive playlist that demonstrates many of these advanced uses of waste yarn. kzbin.info/aero/PLYzbmGf7BqHQ85XPKL0E-Iz5-GZQFh81n I'd be interested in your thoughts on these applications. Happy stitches - both sewn and knitted!

Seems a lot easier than the Kitchner Stitch... that I've been watching.

It's the same result but under complete control. It also introduces you to using waste yarn for more challenging situations.

hi Lucy when the Socks is finished cuff down to toe,why not do kitchner stitch. why is the chimney toe better. I'm confused. please advise, would like your input, thank you.
@peachy750197 жыл бұрын
I agree ... I could have done a kitchener and been done with that sock by the time the chimney could have been knitted.
