This is a very early video it seems on this channel - but it has since evolved with some mind-bending material especially on gravity, time and the illusion of forces. This is a terrific channel!

Great channel, LOVE it since beginning. One cent of my voice: Jupiter ALSO has rings, and planets do NOT rotate around Sun, rather ALL objects rotate around gravitational center called "barycentre" which can sometimes be above Sun "surface". But these are the details!

Are the distances and sizes up to proper scaling? Or is it exaggerated? I know it's difficult if we are up to scale, but seeing such things produces better intuition
@enderyu2 жыл бұрын
A bit late, but the distances seem to be in scale, except the distances from the Sun up to Jupiter (inner solar system) are scaled up relative to the rest of the solar system [Jupiter should be around halfway from Saturn to the Sun]. Relative radii seem accurate (except for the Sun of course), but the size/distance ratio almost always has to be exaggerated since their scales are way too disparate to be compared.
@thairinkhudr42592 жыл бұрын
Relative distance may be correct, but planet/sun size to distance is not. Check out Josh Worth's map "If the Moon were only One Pixel".

"The solar system is the set of all objects which are subjected to the attraction the sun". 0:12 I mean isn't Andromeda galaxy also attracted by the sun I think you say the set of objects which are significantly affected by the gravity of the sun. That doesn't seem neat but i think is better though there is maybe a better one " the sun together with the group of celestial bodies that are held by its attraction and revolve around it also": this one seems good Edit: Nevertheless, great video
@LouisTursi3 жыл бұрын
The Andromeda galaxy is a galaxy. The solar system consists of objects attracted to the sun, which is one star out of about a hundred thousand million in our galaxy, the Milky Way. So no, the Sun does not have any influence on the Andromeda galaxy.

Let me explain some problems that this KZbinr meant: "terrestrial" "Core" (not nucleus) I think that is all
@AndersWelander3 жыл бұрын
You said the radius of the solar system is at least 1.5 light years. In that case there is not much interstellar space even out here and further inside the galaxy all star systems would be overlapping each other.

your intro statement is strictly not true. gravity influence of every object in the universe spans whole universe. also, transit objects are not part of solar system. things locked into orbit with the sun for a few billion years, give or take.
