One point I also want to make about the offset between the IR and the visible laser is more a question than anything, and it's when are you going to be shooting anything at distance with the visible laser anyways? I'm far more concerned about the accuracy of the IR laser, since the visible laser is only important to me for either marking for squad mates or for CQB.
@4MRRanch7 ай бұрын
Well ideally if they were perfectly co aligned you could zero either with your optic at 100+ yards, making any offset negligible as you get closer and also not having to use night vision to accomplish this. I still don’t think it’s too bad for the price point
@sectorseven077 ай бұрын
Yeah I agree that being able to daylight zero without having to put guesswork into it or use special targets is a big factor in visible lasers. But I'm just saying it's not a deal breaker since I would be prioritizing the IR. I think that the new gen 2 ngal (if that's what you have) is starting to look like a good option for people on a budget. I run a full power PEQ and I love it but that's two grand a lot of people may not have. @@4MRRanch

Fantastic data points, earned yourself a sub. Is beam divergence adjustable for the IR illuminator, like on the PEQ15 (1-105mrad)? Would also be awesome to know the measured beam divergence on these NGALs - it can be directly measured (pain in the ass though), or using beam profilers/wavefront sensors. Not sure if that device you have is capable of measuring it, but would be good data nonetheless. The 16.8mW peak on the vis laser is definitely stronger than the peak of the PEQ15, but not all that concerning if you’re not viewing it directly (shining into your eyes) or firing it in a highly reflective environment. IIRC the peq15’s vis laser is 5mW (standard laser pointer limit), its IR laser 27.5mW, and illuminator 45mW maximum - that’s admittedly from memory though. But yeah, this thing definitely falls into class 3B territory, lol
@4MRRanch7 ай бұрын
Yes the illuminator divergence is adjustable. I compare it to a couple illuminators on the initial review that’s on my channel. This clone can’t get super tight or super wide, but is an improvement over their peq 15 clone

As a MAWL owner, I'm considering selling it off and just keeping the cash sans a purchase for one of these units. My thing now is that the MAWL controls are awesome, and screwing around with twist knobs and stuff in the dark under glove is very off putting.

The only reason it's labeled as an "airsoft toy" is because of import laws and regulations. They know their market... that's weird yours has such a large offset. I would warranty it. However, I've never used the vis laser. I have over 4k rounds of 556, 300bo, and 308 on 3 different units.
@4MRRanch7 ай бұрын

It's not weird to have this off set. There website clearly stated only co-aligned within 12moa. So this one is very good consider within their spec. And no, they don't want real firearms users buying their lasers, the failure rate is too high, they are loosing money. They have more than enough airsoft customers, that doesn't complaining. Only for airsoft, they mean it.

@@lortetiLol, they definitely aren't losing money from real steel users. It is solely because of import it's labeled airsoft only. They absolutely know their market. So for a 300blk build as a PDW would this or the Rovyon be a better budget option?

Nice work sir, I have one and I'm very happy with it :) it's much brighter than most LAMs, I put it up against my friends mawl and the somo was a lot stronger even on low, some people may not like that, it can potentially autogate your nods but for longer range illumination and spotting it's great.

Thanks for sharing your experience, I’ll be comparing it to a mawl soon myself

Really wish they made a "Pro" version that uses steel, a lot of potting and ipx rating. Even if it doubled cost it would be worth it.

Look into invisible sight. That’s what I’ll be comparing this unti to. They have a $500 and $1000 version. I think this is what you’re seeking, BUT it’s aluminum like the real NGAL

To be fair that lock washer isnt quite the right size. Should be a tad smaller than what you have so it just barley slides over the threaded portion of the clamp bolt. Looks like its bigger than the clamp bolt diameter.

I have a Somo NGAL Gen3. I have over 3,000 rounds on it and no zero shift yet. No rail play or teeter on my 11.5" URGI or Spear LT either. Curious if the Gen4 will have these issues?!

First. It's not meant for real firearms. Whether it holds zero or not.
