i am a musician! the celestial nails have always reminded me of tubular bells, resonator pipes on various percussion instruments, or the tibia pipes of pipe organs. generally these create very resonant sounds without much vibrato. the wave functions of these are close to sine waves, which can augment and even cancel out other sound waves. (i am now frantically searching through instruments to see if i can find something even closer.)

Something peculiar about the theme of music in the game is that there is a strange pattern between music and dragons. It is curious that the dragons that are most "docile" with humans are precisely the two that have their own song created by the archons of their respective nation, who at the same time are a Bard and an Opera Singer. Venti created a melody which, according to the story, was what caught Dyvalin's attention, to the point that Monstad's entire quest consists of us recovering the holly lyre in order to save him. Then there's Neuvillette who literally, Focalors wrote a lullaby for him, "Oh hydro dragon dont cry." As well as the fact that after regaining his authority, Furina received a vision from him, after singing on stage again. As for Azdaha and Apep, we know that they do not have any melody or song dedicated to them and they are the ones who have shown the most ostility. And yes I know that Dyvalin was hostile, but that was because of the corruption of the abyss. And then there are the Fauti... whose code names for each herald come from an Opera. This makes me believe that maybe... the entire game is a huge opera whose stage is the world itself and we are the spectators, or should I say... Witnesses.

something that i latched onto during this quest was the almost overused personification of "Fate" and "Fortuna" by Remus and Scylla. it felt like they were talking about a real being that is/was controlling fate and moving the puppet strings. anyways because of this i formed a kinda insane crack theory that "Fortuna" is some character who is forcing natives of teyvat into their "fates" by like writing it as code into the stars (which also just happens to line up with another theory i have about the planet teyvat being somewhat of a computer system) and basically forcing/enslaving them into these fates. makes me think that civilizations like Remuria and Khaenriah were trying directky defy this "Fortuna" in order to free their people from the enslavement of visions and the consequential fate that would be mapped in the stars. And that "Fortuna" caught them and sort of 'rewrote the code' so they couldnt wscape the inevitable fate she had programmed for them idk maybe im just reading into things too much, but i rlly feel its plausible that the story would go in this direction with all the references to collective consciousnesses, fake skies, irminsul being like a computer database(which could make forbidden knowledge a virus?), etc or im just crazy 😝
@roozeveltfox7 ай бұрын
I think this is the right train of thought! Especially how the artifact set specifically mentions a "Master of Fortuna," and Neuvillette's character story referencing the puppet strings of heaven controlling the world.... and additionally - in retrospect, I should have emphasized this (as I only highlighted the text) - in the artifect set, Scylla had called Remus's efforts to defy fate and "ARROGATIVE DELUSION." That, to me, very much suggests that defying, or taking control of fate, is the arrogation of mankind.
@Relic587 ай бұрын
Fortuna is probably Heimarmene. Both goddesses are connected to fate in irl mythology, like the personification of fate. Heimarmene is the one mentioned in the Narzissenkreuz world quest, on something that describes about visions iirc. On that one, it was mentioned that having a vision is like surrendering your fate to Heimarmene, so you shouldn't obtain one at all costs.

I keep wondering if this Fortuna person is the living Moon Sister. In Arlecchino’s scythe, the description says: “Fate, fate, O terrifying and pale fate, why must you abase yourself and submit to such a tyrannical usurper”. So I wonder if the last Moon sister sided with Phanes to create a new fate system for Teyvat, by becoming the actual fate system. Like Sybilla became Phobos. The difference might be that Sybilla didn’t have her own will, but the Moon Sister might have had her own will; which is why Fortuna cannot be influenced by mortals and god kings.

Since Mondstadt we knew the Tsaritsa wants to do battle with Celestia and it's her and the Fatui's endgame and the whole point for gathering all the gnoses. Like I keep seeing people say "a second Archon War is coming" or "is Inazuma getting another Archon Quest and we'll have to war against Raiden again??" And it just baffles me. Ei put emphasis on THE war. Not just any war. Side note: when you showed Layla it reminded me about how she told us that the constellations follow the ley lines (and you can find all the constellations using teleport waypoints of the characters' respective nation). Though some folks are confused as to the implications, the reason why Yae and Ei's conversation is so noteworthy is not because it is new information for the player, but an acknowledgement by the characters of this information. We know it through meta-narrative materials like Travail, but the fact that Yae and Ei are aware that there is a very specific war looming on the horizon shows us that they're far more clued in to the intentions of the other factions than they've let on and are actively anticipating it, on top of the fact that from a meta-narrative perspective, the fact that it is being brought up is an acknowledgement to the player that things are now escalating.

Because they do and they are willing to go to war alongside the Tsaritsa and Harbingers. Edit: also, again.....we had confirmation of all this from Foçalors when she killed herself to return the gnoses and full power of the Hydro Sovereign back to Neuvillette. Theory: So, after the traveler resonates (another musical reference) with all the elements, some major event/battle/confrontation will cause their will for the world to overwrite the Fortuna. The Traveler will be able to summon their descender sword like their twin (not the crappy discount bin version they currently wield) and send pulses of power throughout Teyvat that will further spread once they reach each Statue of the Seven and resonate with them, and defeat Celestia with its sick, Fortuna-smashing beats. Music travels in sound waves, and waves that crash into each other can cause interference or a complete cancelation of the waves. The Samsara cycle is finally broken.

Something along those lines, but then I remembered the Twins being Stars could lead to a situation where the "brighter" one in a binary system (the one with a Will to rival the world perhaps) over takes the other's gravity and slowly consumes it. Maybe one of the moon sisters sings a song or something, but I don't think we've ever seen any of the archons themselves bestow a vision. Neuvilette was there when Furina was granted a vision, but idk if he necessarily GAVE it to her. The idea that the Tsaritsa grants delusions instead of visions could be her version of sticking it to one of the moon sister, the primordial one, or Celestia altogether 🤷♂️
@megamcee7 ай бұрын
Not only was Remus' ship called Fortuna, but the ship's body was made out of the White Cedar, which, to me, implies that Irminsul IS the world's Fate. Ordo had a note about Samsaras of each region and how the humanity went through these Samsaras throughout its existence. My crack theory resulting from these 2 pieces of info is that "Irminsul" is Celestia's tool for controlling the world. The world's history is already written onto Irminsul (i.e. Fate) and anyone who can read/perceive information from Irminsul can learn that history. Sybilla knew that history. Remus learned that history when exploring the music. Rukkha not only knew it, but could control it to a point (which is why her own song was so close to the Sourcesong). And I think that the White Cedar goes through each region, changing its form to fit the one who controls it. Remus had a ship that could produce music that could rival the Fate. Rukkha got a tree, whose branches could create whole Archons. I expect Natlan and Snezhnaya to have their own forms of the White Cedar, because Ordo said that both of those nations are a part of the overal Samsara cycle. I also think that Rukkha inherited the White Cedar from King Irmin (hence the name Irminsul), who in turn got it from the fall of Remuria. Khaenriah was supposedly using Ichor (or at least I think that Azosite is the same thing as Ichor) to power their machines, which might've also come from Irmin's research of Remuria.
@roozeveltfox7 ай бұрын
in retrospect, I think me exploring the fact that Remus's ship (to be turned into a bulding-instrument resonating his symphonies) would have been really interesting, given everything you explained here! I'm back with more information from my unused music degree: Now that you've brought up the ideas of bells/the skyfrost nails being a tuning fork/musical instrument, I wonder if the nails are actually supposed to be bells with the top parts of the bells shattered off. My reasoning is because bells actually have some significance in Western classical music, specifically in medieval music during the 500s to 1400s. Much of sacred music of this time period was sung (think Gregorian chants) because it was believed in Christian ideology that the purest form of connection through God was through song SPECIFICALLY through human voices. Music played by instruments was actually banned from churches during a good chunk of this time frame because they were considered not sacred enough to use in church worship. The only instrument that was really exempt from this were bells since they were used in church towers to summon worshipers, and there were versions of mallet and strung bells occasionally used in services (However, the more common "hand bell" we all think of and the one I think the Skyfrost nails are was invented much later). Tuning forks were invented much later around the 1700s, however they use the same principles as bells when it comes to how they're played and how they produce a tone. They also produce overtone frequencies, as in while you hear one very clear main note, you can also hear vibrations of other notes once you strike it (although usually they are much softer and dissipate much faster). Fun fact, these overtones are the basis to the medieval music theory composition during that time period. Side note: before anyone asks about organs, which are now commonly associated with church-like music, they were actually much more commonly used during the Classical era even though they were invented around the 600-700s. Organs were also considered under the umbrella of "this instrument is not sacred enough to be used in worship and was invented by the devil". On a very different tangent (forgive me its covered in tin foil), when you brought up tuning forks I was reminded about a debate within music circles. So you know how in classical music concerts, there's always a beginning section where there's the first chair violinist (usual) who comes out on stage and plays one very long note and then the orchestra plays a cacophony of sounds after that before they start the concert? That's the orchestra tuning to "concert pitch", or "A"/"A4". However A4 wasn't really standardized until around the 1800/1900s and it was standardized to 440Hz (Hz = Hertz which is the measurement of wave frequencies). However a TON of musicians/composers actually preferred a different wavelength (although all different but they range between 440Hz to 489 Hz which is "flatter" in pitch than 440Hz). So I wondered if the Skyfrost nails were used to "tune" the world to this 440Hz pitch when different groups and people around then preferred other "pitches"/ways of life, such as Khaenri'ah. Idk that's all I really had on that, again the tin foil was out for that one.

Yesssss i can't help but feel some ulterior motives with Nabu Malikata (and now Sybilla) actions as well. Maybe i'm biased because i read/watched many theories that speculated Nabu's hidden agenda, planned her own death to preserve her legacy. Like from Oasis Garden's Truth : "It is said that flowers blossom so that they may enjoy a spectacular death, and that death was precisely the wholehearted pursuit of the Lord of Flowers - for death adds bitterness to lost joy, and intensifies with time across endless memories." Maybe Sybilla also planned all of this ? if she can foresaw the end of Remuria, she would know her transformation into Phobos & and the merging of the Remurians' wills would be the cause of it ? thus exacting Fortuna ? Or maybe even if Phobos didn't become corrupted, Fortuna probably finds a way anyway. Phobos's corruption was just one of the possibilities that can end Remuria, and just so happens the one that happened. It aligned about Roozevelt theory too, for example, Fontaine's prophecy. The flood will happen no matter what you do, the just the way it happens is the key difference. Perhaps both Nabu Malikata & Sybilla hidden agendas were exacting Fortuna. But it's just my speculation though.

12:58 Rene had ppl that can do different types of divinations as Ordo members (Madam Laveaux, Zenaida etc.) so I suppose he used astrology somewhere. I am quite curious if we meet someone that can do pyromancy and such other than Mona and Layla. Maybe some witch? 🤔

@@roozeveltfox Yes that unknown one is really intriguing! Also Madam Laveaux is supposed to be from Natlan and she is probably based on a historical Voodoo practitioner. Who knows what secrets Natlan holds with this one. :D

I think paimon was trying to politely hint that miss Hina looks familiar to Gorou because she looks like his twin 😂 but that was a strangely worded line. Thanks for the musical theory video though. I’m wondering if anything in remuria is also hinting at future plots or themes for Natlan

I now see the other 2 more forms of magical structures like (Irminsul, & the Hearth of the Primordial Sea), 1. Spirit Veins / Divine Veins for Geo, (I heard it from Ashikai. 2. Musica Mundana and etc for Anemo (from here), (I thought it's was the Thousands Winds) 3 More to go.

Does the name Phobos have any deeper significance? I know it's the name of one of Mars's moons and means "fear", but I'm not sure how (if) any of this transpates to Genshin. The 3 Moon Sisters all have music-related names, so it just seems odd that now a symphony has a moon-related name.
@roozeveltfox7 ай бұрын
I don't have an answer, BUT the moon part + "fear" kiiiinda reminds me of the crimson moon (especially it being terrified in Perinheri)... but yeah idk, no idea how that would link to Remuria. Aside from some thematic link with fate, since I personally think the crimson moon has something to do with fate. But yeah It's an interesting name choice.

So…the music of the Primordial one replaced the original music of mundana of Teyvat? The rules of the Celestia and the fate of Teyvat is a big symphony, which was alluded to in the beginning of the 4.6 livestream (quoting a book in the game). But there was a mistranslation-the book actually says that Remus understood the plan of the Primordial (one) from the cycle of Seven days and the sounds of the winds blowing.

My take on Genshin : I feel like Genshin is a story inside a story about nihilism. Or a dream inside a dream. And we as players enter that story when we enter the door with Celestia’s lullaby. That lullaby has many versions in each nation of Teyvat. I think difference is culture. Each cultures around the world interpret dreams and symbols in different fashions. The main protagonist is a witness who builds friendship with vision bearers or other elemental users that are bound by fate. Maybe visions are a way for the heavenly rulers of Teyvat to use the will, authority, imaginary meaning of the humans in order to maintain a sort of protection against the inevitable end (but is it durable?). Venti is the only friend of the MC that is unaffected by loss of memory (death) between each repetition of the MC’s quest, which is interesting considering he’s the archon of Mondstadt, the land of fairy tales and songs. Maybe that’s due to his origins from a higher authority (astaroth), but that establishes Venti as a Shaman who is aware of the meaning of dreams, songs, and tales in each culture and in each time. The Abyss, however, represents humans who decide to sever themselves from myths, dreams, stories, songs, friendship and fairytales. I remember an episode in the night kingdom that an abyss lector said that friendship is meaningless/the pyro archon is stealing Natlan’s people’s will. Stoicism/reason/absurdism/lucidity/friendship would be the imaginary tree element (MC twin, meaning is imaginary) and nihilism would be the void/black hole element (abyss twin). At the end of the journey, one of the twin will win over the other and decide of the fate of Teyvat : rewind the imagination of the dream OR destroy it and let humanity choose it’s own fate (face the end of the world without having to be lied and belittled by the gods). The witness is not the MC traveler, it’s us the player. Our witnessing of Genshin story and our literal grinding of the game is what makes the playable characters ascend. I think that the MC will use the power of friendship (imaginary tree element) to actually save Teyvat without having to rewind the dream bubble. That would happen because us as players have gained friendship points by using other playable characters other than the MC, giving our witnessing power to them. Eventually, the authority of each vision bearer/elemental users will be combined to create imaginary energy and fight off the inevitable end. After all, the ultimate meaning of human existence might just be to grow (like a tree). This ties into our story as players. Games reflect real life, and this simulation/story questions us on a fundamental question that we’ll have to answer at the end of the game/our journey. I think this is predictable considering all the support on philosophy and literature the game has shown until now. The purpose of the game could be more noble if it weren’t a money sucking, time-consuming machine. EDIT : I’ve done some research and I recommend to read Rose-Maelle Florestal’s paper on metamodernity in videogames, culture, and genshin. I think it’s alarming to think that I can have dreams of video games and things i see on the internet while my ancestors would dream of symbols in nature. Her paper is very interesting and made me rethink a lot of things.

Hey Roozevelt, what do you make of the Song of Stillness? It reads like it's telling two different stories to me, I'm very confused about it.
@roozeveltfox7 ай бұрын
iirc correctly w/ the bow's story: I had just interpreted it as an account of the fall of remuria from a certain angle. But I could also see how it's playing on genshin's penchant for a small-story-foreshadowing-a-bigger-one? I havent revisited in detail so I'm open to more interpretations...!!

Hi, I just found your channel a couple of days ago, and it got my 3 am brain thinking... what if teyvat was being used as some kind of prison for Aether and/or Lumine? the unknown god not letting us leave is a confusing choice, but what if she was a kind of prison warden? maybe when you spend a certain amount of time in teyvat you forget other worlds? perhaps the traveler is counted as a desender bc they will never forget, but the abyss sibling has already lost most of their memories? I know its a bit stupid - but i felt the need to share it anyway

Aria sonnet canon, the 3 moon sisters, they always reminds me the moirai the fate sisters of greek mythology and now the music is the looms of fate, Triquetra that paimon and welkin lady have, represents the cycle of the fate and also the moon goddess in celtic mythology, and the moirais has a mother ananke, that also associated with aphrodite urania and aphrodite urania also connected with ishtar,istaroth the thousand wind/everlasting/kairos/Tokoyo ookami. İn orphic cosmonogy ananke and chronos created the cosmic egg named aether from abyss, and the phanes Hatched from that egg "aether". The chronos and ananke have a serpent form (or the black bird and wind!) and the narzissenkreuz ordo note hides something huge. Forsake the self and sink into the abyss and in the abyss reborn as a holy infant, and after that he says the descenders have 4 traits, and the origin of the descender term comes from the phanes and phanes has 4 shining shades the 4 shades fits with 4 traits, Sustainer of hp=Asmoday Creater of hp= shade of life(the creator of egeria) Destroyer of hp= The shade of death Protector of hp= the protector of hp(i have a hypothesis that explains the protector and sustainer fact) And the crimson moon dynast ritual is also looks like that ritual in the note, they waited the descender the transcendal person to use that ritual, the outlanders that used this ritual have crimson wings just like the "holy infant" angelic beings also it seems like the omnipresent god statue. So i think primordial one used that ritual for being a descender, being a holy infant is a result of the ritual the descenders are not capable to create destroy sustain and protect the world without ritual, they have will yes(maybe finality power or something like that) but they need the reborn in the abyss they need to become one with the abyss, and probably the 3rd descender also did this, and the childe also become the part of abyss or maybe he doesn't become yet, but i think he will,skirk said"when you entered the empty space you'll gain the power that will help you tonthe changing the world Sorry for my less english , i hope i corrrectly explained my thoughts

Me before 4.6: "Wow, Celestia really freaked out over the whole Egeria creating Fontainians thing, why would they impose such a weirdly specific "you are bound to a fate you will not escape" punishment and also why would they have a problem with a new race of humans existing in the first place?" Me after 4.6: "Ah."

Trying to udnerstand Egerias timeline here too... Was Egeria a being, had some power of prophecy, then got imprisoned, then received a Gnosis near the end of Remuria and went and made Fontaine? or Did Egeria have the gnosis sooner than that?
@roozeveltfox7 ай бұрын
yeah, that's the just. basic summary: Egeria was created by the (speculated) shade of life as the primordial sea's new heart. So basically, as long as she lived, a new hydro sovereign wouldn't be reborn. After she sinned she was imprisoned in the abyssal depths. Right after Remuria, she assumed control of Fontaine - Furina's sig weapon description suggests HP chose her/commanded her to, so it would have been then that she received the gnosis. And then she would die during the cataclysm, leaving the gnosis to Focalors, and also her death allowed for the new sovereign to be born. I don't know if she necessarily had the power of prophecy, but at the very least she had an understanding of how HP works, perhaps because she (I assume) existed during an era where heaven and earth still communicated.
