This makes me tear up every time I watch it - when Phoebe touches Lea's face and Blake kisses the top of her head, when Blake bows to Jon and Jon takes Skylar's hand, and the way Blake and Lea both grab Jon's hands when they move forward near the end of the song. Makes me wish I could have been there...!

I'm so glad this has the first 8 measures. On most recordings it doesn't and this is AMAZING.

I didn’t fully appreciate this show when it first came out - now, a decade later, after coming out, experiencing suicide ideation, the struggles of college, and intense love/loss for the first time, this show has so much more meaning to me.

When they crescendo into "All shall know the wonders" and Jon puts his hands on Lea and John, it gives me goosebumps. Not because it was in character, not because Moritz and Wendla died, its because in real life, it was the last time they were together on stage. It was the last they were all a cast, together, singing the last song. I cry everytime because I know that feeling of the last performance, the last time on that stage and thats why its so hard-hitting and I cry.
@magaencina28632 жыл бұрын
It must certainly wasn't a "last" for Jonathan and Lea, they sang alot of times after together and then even on glee but yeah, in that moment they felt they were saying goodbye even to their friendship, which also wasn't the case.

Yes, there are people singing in the onstage audience. They're the ensemble, in Spring Awakening the ensemble wore normal clothes and sat in the onstage audience. They would have mics that they pull out to sing with.

so so so so beautiful and flawless. I can't adequately express how much I love this song, and what a perfect conclusion it is to spring awakening.

Listen to what's in the heart of a child A song so big in one so small Soon you will hear where beauty lies You'll hear and you'll recall The sadness the doubt All the loss, the grief Will belong to some play from the past As the child leads the way to a dream A belief A time of hope through the land A summer's day A mother sings A song of purple summer Through the heart of everything And heaven waits So close it seems To show her child the wonders Of a world beyond her dreams

The earth will wave with corn The days so wide, so warm And mares will neigh With stallions that they mate Foals they've borne And all shall know the wonder Of purple summer... And still, I wait The swallow brings A song of what's to follow - The glory of the spring The fences sway The porches swing The sky begins to thunder Crickets wander, murmuring The earth will wave with corn The day so wild, so warm And mares will neigh With stallions that they mate Foals they've borne And all shall know the wonder I will sing the song of purple summer And all shall know the wonder I will sing the song of purple summer All shall know the wonder Of purple summer...

+lions for scottie Genuine audience enthusiasm, but once the screaming started I couldn't hear anything being sung. Honest question: why do people scream over the top of the singers and drown out their singing? Never understood this.

Beautiful performance by some of the most talented performers out there! Just curious, is there any significance to Lea/Wendla wearing the white dress instead of the blue one (as in many other performances)?
@WonderstruckFleur10 жыл бұрын
probably because it was her last performance and that would be the last time she will wear that dress.
@itskatiemydudes15415 жыл бұрын
i can’t remember if the broadway production was the same, but in a showing of spring awakening i saw at a college a few months ago, moritz and wendla were in all white outfits at the end when they “rise from the dead” for a sec. i think to represent that they’re spirits/ghosts. the broadway show may do the same concept, but moritz is in his normal outfit here, so idk

I wish the audience didn't scream and cry over their final song. Call me a curmudgeon, but every last performance deserves its respect. A time and place for that would be curtain call or an encore. Love their singing and acting too but Id still like to enjoy the last of the performance.
