I cry every time when Melchior rises and sings, "You watch me, just watch me". what a beautiful way to portray someone choosing to live on, instead of ending his life, after his world has been destroyed.

Why was he on the floor crying? Also, what was the point of spring awakening? Last question, why was there sex in the musical?
@power_6080
@power_6080 Жыл бұрын
@@Allison_Slayze was on the floor crying because he found out the girl he “loved” passed away while pregnant with their baby (she died from a botched abortion her mother forced her to get). There are many reasons why Spring Awakening is an important show but in my opinion, the most important reason is to show the dangers of sheltering your children and to show change. The show is told purely from the perspective of the children, this allows other teens to see themselves in these characters and also allows parents to see things from their children’s pov. lastly, the sex scenes. One possible purpose for these scenes is to explore whether ideas about sex arise naturally in human beings or are taught by outside forces. Another possibility is that Wedekind uses children rather than adults because adults may have an easier time seeing their own flaws and mistakes when they are represented in youthful forms. It’s also to raise questions and provoke thoughts about how we as a society choose to bring up the topic with our children. Melchiors parents are more okay with him learning about it. He has a good understanding of it, why we do it and the consequences of it. Wendla’s mother isn’t okay with her daughter knowing and this is the major reason for Wendla’s pregnancy and eventual death. There are many bootlegs of the show here on youtube if you want to watch it (though you should probably wait a few more years considering you’re very young). if you want to find out more about the theme, the point, and just why the show exists in general there are many sources online talking about it and there’s even a documentary from last year that covers that and also shows clips from the reunion concert in 2021. Hope this helps ☺️

She also does an impressive work acting, it's very hard to get a naive girl like Wendla right. Her movements, the tone of her voice. She nailed this one. I must ask... Were you sick of Lea or of Rachel Berry? Because you know, Rachel's been written in a way in which it's easy to get sick of her.

Every song live sounds better than it does on the recording. The actors (the three leads, especially) put more passion and heart behind their voices. Conversely, on the recordings, the actors are more focused on hitting all of the right notes, rather than fueling their songs with passion.

The Moritz here isn’t the Moritz on the recording. John Gallagher Jr left the show before Jonathan Groff and Lea Michele did. I believe it’s Blake Bashoff performing as Moritz here.

If you watch any other performance of this song, when Jonathan grabs their hands he just pulls lightly. Here, you can see him PULL his friends toward him, and clutch them TIGHT. I feel like That was him pulling the ACTORS toward him, and singing those lyrics to THEM and to the whole cast; he was going to remember Spring Awakening for the rest of his life. I’m so glad him and Lea are still such good friends

you know how mortz hair gets more messy through out the show like it shows how tired and stressed he is. anyone notice when he's dead. his hair is up straight and its not messy. kinda showing he's at peace I mean I may be just bsing but its a theory.

This comment is late af but John Gallagher Jr said the act 1 hair was a result of him teasing and hairspraying his hair to hell and back to make it as messy as possible and for act 2 the hairstylist for the show came in and worked their magic to make it as extreme as possible

@@l.grays.2689 exactly what i was going to say! i actually prefer the Deaf West version, and in a movie I would take all the DW actors over John and Lea any day. No offense to them, of course, they are amazing performers, I just think that the ASL brings more meaning and emotion to it, and the actors in that are equally as talented, perhaps even more considering what they're doing.

You can barely hear it, because Blake is so much quieter than Jonathan and Lea, but my absolute favorite part of this song is when Moritz says "You are not alone." Especially when you consider the original ending from the 2001 workshop, where Moritz is trying to convince Melchior to end his own life so that he doesn't have to be alone anymore.

I read someone say that the musical was worse than Franz Wedekind's play, that it had less psychological depth. So I read Wedekind's play. I prefer the musical by a LONG shot. The character depth is pretty much still there, and the message is better conveyed by the musical. I think that for what the play wanted to tell, the musical is far better, and it's a pity Wedekind wasn't alive to see it. I think he would certainly have been proud. The play is more of a tragedy, but the musical is better rounded up.

When I saw this live I basically sobbed through this entire song. I knew Moritz died because I could infer that much from the soundtrack, but I somehow had missed the details outlined in the music about Wendla. And I was *devastated*.
