The photos in that lion sequence at the end of this video are, in my opinion, the best wildlife photos I have captured all year. 🔥

I really don't think you could have done any better on those lion/buffalo shots. Right place, right time, right light, right gear. Just wow! Looks like it's worth its weight. Great memories for you for sure.

The lion/buffalo photo came out fantastic, as well as the environmental elephant portraits. Also, Opi is the absolute BOSS. 😎

Those photos of the lion with the buffalo are totally wicked! What a cool way to conclude the Botswana safari trip! Australia sounds like it will be awesome! I was there several weeks ago, and it was a lot of fun!

Those photos of the lion and the buffalo are superb! I have that same lens and use it for bird photography, and I'm quite pleased with it (apart from the weight). I love that "presto change-o" button that lets me go to a preset instantly. It's useful for going from perched birds to flying-bird shots.

Some great photos. One could always try renting a long prime for a couple of weeks if they wouldn’t need it that often. Just a thought. Safe travels.

My copy of this lens is very sharp throughout the range on my A7rIV, including @600 mil wide open. AF is doing a good job as well.. And those lion shot are really cool! Perfect amount of background blur/separation too..! ;) See you in Hamburg (maybe). ✌

I have to agree. those were some excellent photos with the Lion and the Buffalo👍👍. Elephant politics, that made me laugh (Trudeau & Poilievre) 😂. The talking head shot at the end, I think the Elephant got bored and left when you started talking technical facts about the lens 😂, great review of the lens you almost sold me, then I realized I didn't shoot Sony. Australia for Christmas, Nice👍❤

@@DflyDude In my opinion it’s a great investment atm. Especially for wildlife.

my Wife and I are Canon shooters from South Africa, so get to go to bush often. We have 400 2.8s but use the Canon 100-500 ( their equivalent to the 200-600) a lot more these days... These new Zooms are great lenses and if you place your backgrounds correctly give you acceptable bokeh..

I shoot mainly landscapes. But, when I need a longer lens for wildlife, I don't hesitate to use my 200-600 G. The 300 GM would be nice. But, I would rather spend that money on a trip.

I just came back from Safari at Africa too.. Hmm I dont have the 200-600.. I did bring along the 70-200 and 300GM.. Sometimes i use the 300 with TC and it's awesome. Right now I'm just waiting for Sony to release the 100-400GM ii.. no idea when but pretty sure it'll come at some point.. Didnt go for 200-600 because its heavy and "slow" F stop I mean..so I opt for the 300 instead which is lighter and can also get to 600 with TC. I'll never think or want a 400/600 for the exact reason.. Too big/long and too heavy (3KG).. Perhaps if the mark ii make them significantly smaller and lighter.. I'll be interested. Same if 200-600 ii can be smaller and lighter.. sure.. Having big and heavy gear on travel.. on the road.. off the road.. security checks etc.. it's really cumbersome sometimes irritating. Smaller and lighter gear are always more welcome.

I tried the Sony 200-600 as well. But in the end, I bought the Tamron 150-500. The Sony is just very large and bulky. And a lens that is large that you don't take it out is not very useful. So, despite being optically slightly worse, the Tamron was the better lens for me.

Greg, elephants acting up, like fighting, drop the commentary and shoot. Never let your camera out of your hands. Just a thought. Good to see your videos again!!!

Gary!! How is it mate? Haha, I would end up with 30,000+ photos over 8 days! Plus I had a camera in my hands at that moment 😂 but it was the video camera capturing that classic politics.
