You can't get them to logically think out the situation (Ie point out to someone who thinks they're 10 again and looking for their long dead parents in their long sold off houses that they obviously aren't 10 if they look in a mirror and see an old person) it just won't register. It didn't matter that Malanga obviously wouldn't break into his house just to cook for him, it was Malanga dammit boom, was Junior's thinking. It's like how even though Tony tells him like 10 times Malanga was dead Junior never registered or acknowledged it. It's very sad. I'm under standing orders from my parents to make sure they have an accident if they ever get like that.

@@thamayor6324 Totally, that scene hit close to me. It takes humility to come to someone for help and advice, something Tony struggles with given his disposition. He opens himself up to his uncle who he respects, and realizes that he's surpassed Junior and he's even more alone, even more hopeless. That's how I saw that scene at least. It's painful to feel desperate enough in a situation that you need to go to others for help, just to find that not even they can help you, which I've felt with my parents before. The Sopranos can hit you in unexpected places.

I’ve seen people shot in person. His reaction was crazy realistic. I got shot once myself but it was in the lower leg. I can’t imagine what being hit center mass like that would feel like. Jesus Christ. You can feel the shot in this scene. Outstanding acting, and unsettling because of it if you’ve ever been around it. Crazy shit happens to folks insides when they get shot in the gut like that. You got possible interference with the spinal cord, rupturing intestines, lungs, liver, kidneys, main arteries, heart (usually fatal). If you survive the initial trauma you got infection from fecal matter spilling into your insides from ruptured intestines. Sepsis. Getting hit in the top gut like that below the sternum. Most don’t survive.

@@cody10184 interestingly enough. I've been shot at multiple times but never got hit, growing up on the southside of Chicago. I was in a gang as a teenager. I'm 40 now and have long since left Chicago and I live a regular life now. But yeah, I never got hit in the handful of times people were shooting at me on purpose. The shot in my leg was a stray bullet when someone else was being targeted on a corner i was standing on. It was a graze and wouldn't have been so bad except it was from an AK. So it took out a nice little chunk of bone. It was in 1996. I think I was 13 if I recall correctly

See this is why Tony is a complex character. He's a murderous sociopath who only a few seasons earlier was at odds with Junior and which might have ended with one of them dead (Junior because of the failed assassination and Tony for killing Junior's soldiers and plan to take out Junior), yet here he still shows Junior affection by taking care of him. Even after Junior shot him, Tony still eventually visited him and seemed to show genuine sadness.

Tony might feel it as a betrayal, which is more than natural considering he still thinks of his uncle as being of reasonably sound mind, but objectively speaking it's not betrayal, it would be better called an unfortunate accident, junior is clearly completely demented in this scene and has no idea he shot his nephew. The question of whether betrayal has to be conscious could lead to a lengthy debate though...

Earlier in the series Tony and Uncle June were sitting on the sofa and Tony asked Uncle June in a rare heartfelt moment, "....why does it always have to be something mean? Don't you love me?" The song playing in this scene is Artie Shaw's "Comes Love" sung by Helen (wait for it) Forrest... which forshadows what is about to happen by alluding also to Ade and Sil in the forest where he shot her with a pistol... . This scene here may be the most carefully constructed and brilliant scene in the history of television.
