Yes, Charmaine is resentful at being given the 'come forth' nails, and is also concerned about Meadow. But I believed she was in in there, working to build a business for a long time, sometimes against Artie's instincts. Best portrayal of staying outside. Always had time for Charmaine Bucco, and how she could pop up in the dreams of Tony? How could she not?

Good point! She kept Artie protected against his worst impulses (at least while they weren’t separated - I’d imagine Charmaine would’ve had more input had she and Artie not been separated when Jean Phillipe asked Artie for the 50k loan).

Charmaine for all her abrasiveness and nagging tenancies, is also one of the only Sorpano characters with any moral conscience and it's so clear without her, Artie would have either gone broke, killed himself or gotten crippled/killed years ago. And likely never have turned out better than Coach thought he would. Artie took til the end of the series to appreciate how lucky he was to have her even if she didn't always show it, partly because of his oafish and non-thinking impulsive decisions that he makes time and time again.

There are certain characters in The Sopranos, I'm thinking Finn, Charmaine, Johnny Cakes, Noah, and of course Dr Jennifer Melfi, that behave in a genuinely authentic way a real world person would if they were suddenly, mysteriously thrown into the heightened world of The Sopranos.

@davidmajer365210 ай бұрын
Charmaine is probably the most moral female character in the show. She is one of the moral compasses. She is also very inauthentic. She is a fictional character to fill any role the plot requires. Her going back to Arty did not seem realistic. She was strong enough of woman to create a new life, but the plot called for her to come back, so she did. A secondary character like Charmaine's inauthentic behavior can be overlooked, but the main character Carmela needs to be true to character. Carmela is a main character, so the writers kept her true to the personality they created for her. The Bucco's have kids when it suits the plot, but they disappear when not needed.

I never liked that scene with Carmella. At no point is Carmella going out of her way to humiliate Charmaine and for her to respond that way out of her own insecurity which she is projecting over her choices (which she rightfully stands by) was wack. Sleeping with Tony one time in high school doesn't mean he was going to or wanting to marry her either so the assumption that she could have had the life Carmella had and simply rejected it is a stretch. Then the Meadow scene on top of that. She was doing too much and truthfully cam across as jealousy and resentful towards Carmella. She may feel she took the more dignified path but the reality is she still ended up aligning herself with a man who was feigning for affiliation with the Mob.

Nothing to due with her role . Narducci in interviews appears to be the most upbeat and likable of the entire cast. Compare that to John Ventimiglia who is more like he was in the series 6ft under as one of the customers. That being said, does the actual personality of the actor play a roll in the writers script for them? Probably not in her case. But in others yes. As I once asked the actress Laurie Holden if the writers of the walking dead factored her unbelievable good nature in real life into her character. (She does incredible humanitarian things that often risk her own safety. Just like in the show walking dead). She told me that was maybe the best question she was ever asked and gave me a big hug. Which made my day as I am a huge fan of women like her who are beautiful inside snd out. And got a picture of us as a keepsake. And then she told me yes. The writers did make the decision to make her characters flaw to be risking herself and others for the sake of goodness and kindness because she was like that in real life. Once they learned that about her. Smart writers on that show.
@aaron617010 ай бұрын
She was a master player with the Mafia, similar to the priest who tried to shake down Paulie for more money. She accepted the Mafia at Vesuvios to a certain point (I wonder how much she was really against their coming, the prestige must have been great even though Tony rarely paid his bill). Her getting married to Tony or any of the Alpha Males of that North Jersey universe would have been catastrophic (great sex but loads of fighting ), so she smartly picked a man who has always been emasculated by the mob. She did get the last word against Tony and Carmela, and yeah, very petty, but pettiness is power in that environment. It helps that she is incredible looking and has a way with words.

She one sneaky beach. In order to navigate around the criminal types, she manoeuvres within the murky world of criminal masterminds. Knowing full well what they are capable of, or not, (vis a vis with sociopathic maniacs having no impulse controls) Mainey charms Tony-ony. She has to, it's life or death. Faced with financial ruin, from Benny Fazio's credit card scheme, the two convivial hosts call a meeting of minds, to confront the staff about the daily ass ray ape. Artie blows up, accusing the entire staff of treachery, with a histrionic display worthy of an Emmy Award. Swirling tablecloths, airborne glassware and porcelain, upturning chairs as he leaves the dining area. Sensing an outright staff revolt, Charmaine pleads for their forgiveness. Then politely orders them to clean up the mess. If Charmaine delegates, she delegates.
