Chris and Ade really did love each other but the life that Chris was in made it so that he could never be the man she needed. The mafia is an insidious group of petty people with petty power who hate “weakness”. When Chris was forced to get sober what did he get mocked and lost respect. But Chris kept going because regular life scares him to much despite Ade wanting to get away. Eventually Chris made his choice that cost him his life. They never could truly be happy because of the life like Paulie said “marriage and our thing don’t jive.”

I don't think Adriana is naive. Rather the tragedy of her life is similar to that of D'Angelo Barksdale from The Wire. She is born into a world that she is fundamentally not built for because at her heart she isn't a bad selfish person like the mobsters are. A core point of the show is that the "code" is all just BS and it's everyone for themselves at the end of the day, but Adriana never really got that, or could never embrace it, hence not leaving Chris even though he gave her ample reasons to. Her weakness was her loyalty to Chris because she really did love him, and that ultimately proved her undoing.

Ade and Chris shared a toxic bond in many ways, they had a co-dependency on each other. With each being the only one they feel they can be vulnerable around, confide in and share a lot of needs and wants. Neither feeling they can do regular life, nor wanting to be confined to where they are at the start. Wanting to not be Tony/Carmela as a whole. And boy does the Sopranos take that desire of theirs, shit on it and basically chew them out the other end, that makes them among the most tragic characters of the series. Even with how abusive, jerk like, drug addict and other flaws Chrissy has, Michael still manages to make Chrissy pitiful on a level that is one of the best done in fiction, because his depression, struggles and abuse he gets is truly sad to see at times. While Ade had that sweet core that made her stood out, and boy the pedestal she put Chrissy on never ceases to move me, same with what she goes through despite her own selfish desires, lack of morals and more.
@SopranosBlueprint2 ай бұрын
Yes, it’s interesting because although Tony was obviously BS-ing to Carmela right after she learned about the “break up,” Tony says, “This kid. That’s his trouble. i hate that the fbi played on her emotions and gave no f’s about her but it’s the job.

💯💯💯 When she throws up and Chief Cubitoso says “Get the waste basket,” it makes me think of how they treated her in general and then just tossed her away and jumped onto the next case. But yeah, it’s too bad she didn’t call Neil Mink right away instead of agreeing to work with them.

Sopranos is 30 years old, what the point here.

TV shows and films (and anything, really) don’t expire in significance once they become [X] years old. If anything, they only become more important as reflections of points in time and our society. It’s not mandatory that everyone else participate or share the enthusiasm, but that doesn’t mean others can’t or shouldn’t enjoy it.

"I love movies, you know that. That smell in blockbuster, the carpet and candies." LMAO. In a show full of dim-wits, they are two of the dimmest. Only surpassed in idiocy by Drinkwater and his partner, Sean.
