Absolutely, Sil figured it out. His job is to help Tony make the right/non-impulsive decisions and has to know what will work based off how Tony thinks, feels, and operates. Watching the show over and over, you definitely can get that Sil actually knows everything but, obviously, he's as loyal as loyal gets and never says a word.
@Potatoshaneko5 жыл бұрын
You're right, but he does speak up occasionally although he does it in a very subtle manner. The talks he had with Tony about making Ralphie captain where he's says "either make nice, or make him disappear", you can tell that this isn't advice, this is Sil telling Tony what his options are - he then offers advice on which option would be best. He's also very upfront with Tony regarding Vito, about people like Paulie starting to withhold serious money if Vito isn't dealt with, and the big one which is when he says "You don't wanna eat shit from John, frankly you have a problem with authority". I honestly expected Sil to get killed or at the very least ostracised over that comment.

Sil knows Tony too well, worked closely with him for a long time. Sil knows how Tony talks & how he lies, basically he knows his patterns. I am sure it wasn't the first time Tony covered up a crime and let Sill knows exactly how the cops will see it as such. Sil is notoriously stony-faced, giving nothing away. So when he reacts, it's always a micro-expression. And it's always brilliantly done, acted and directed. I like how they repeated the exact same exchange two or three times to emphasize that Tony was the one that did it. Just another example of David Chase's brilliance. Never another show like it

This video actually replays the last exchange, just to emphasize Sil's reaction to "Seems like that's the cause of death." It was only said once, but Sil's reaction is very telling.

Silvio knows. He's been with Tony for decades. He's seen him get visibly upset over Tracee's death, a woman not even related to him, and who was 'property' to the rest of them. He saw him get upset over Tony B's death, even if he was putting on a brave face. But Chrissy? Tony shows nothing but concern for himself, and disinterest in Chrissy. Sil knows, but as his consigliere, he won't contradict Tony's story. It is telling, that visibly, Paulie is the most banged up about Chrissy's death. They fought, but when you look at Paulie's relationships with everyone, they're pretty antagonistic. He loved Chrissy in his own way. More than Tony ever did.

@heroedeleyenda053 жыл бұрын
It makes sense. A giveway for a liar is over-explaining. When tony said "suffocated on his own blod" everyone infers that as the cause of death. When tony sayd "seems like that's the cause of death" he is over explaining , and silvio reads it as a sign that something is wrong
@kapner21043 жыл бұрын
Feel like everyone in Tony’s crew was suspicious the same way Sil was. Tony at this point had become a loose cannon and a liability. Out of respect, if they acknowledged their suspicions of the boss, they’d be way out of line. Sil was the only one out of his crew that had enough rank/respect to possibly accuse Tony of killing Christopher. Anybody else makes a face like that or shows similar suspicion is getting whacked.

I think Tony's social abilities have heavily deteriorated by the end of the show. He was able to scheme and lie and charm, now he can't even feign emotions over the death of his nephew and protege, the man he loved like a son. Maybe only Sil knew, but I am sure the others had their suspicions

Seems like Paulie might have considered it a possibility as well, as he and Sil share a brief look at one another. But, once Tony gives the cause of death, he is more in grief about it. Meanwhile Sil notes Tony’s specific wording, “seems like that was the cause of death, suffocated on his own blood” and he knew what was up. One of the funniest parts of the clip was cut, “what is with you and Carlo’s fucking arrival!?” that Paulie said IIRC.

I think Silvio had an inkling something possibly transpired between Christopher and Tony here. He knew he was on the outs with Tony and some of the crew in general and was no longer trusted to be in Tony's inner, inner circle. Tony almost whacked him in season 5 over his outburst over the Adriana thing and also season 4 when he was on heroin.
