But Beansie says to Tony his lonely and tony is all his really got. And people think Tony felt sympathy for Paulie in the end. Which it might be. But I think Tony saw it as Paulie is pretty pathetic so next to him his life seem much better of and to stroke his ego. Just my opinion but I think we can all agree Tony even though we route for him the whole series. He is the biggest narcissist in the series. But Gandolfini was so nice and such a good actor. Remember watching him in true romance and knew he was going to be a star. As you really hated him and he only had about 5 minutes screen time in that.

He wants everyone close to him, whether it is Meadow, his crew, or whoever else - his personality of not trusting anyone doesn't help. Tony B. keeping himself clean could be bad for Tony S' business. In the old days, you never got out of the mafia alive - even if you get out of the can after 20 years, you expect to stick with the family and earn. If Tony B. was smart, he should've moved to Elvis Country or California - anywhere but North Jersey or New York.
