5:42 this is imo the trippiest scene in The Sopranos. The squeaking, the camera angles, Tony walking in place while Silvio's sliding across him. We've all had a dream like that before, the out-of-body experience. It's some beautiful stuff.

Yes and that was the same house in Tony's Coma 2 part dream scene I believe when Tony B was trying to take his suit case
@jammin25754 ай бұрын
@@josephtalmadge3108yeah that one with Tony B was Tony Soprano dying, he was going into cardiac arrest and being revived. He was going to the gates of hell, Tony B is believed to be the devil or something taking his baggage of life. That’s why he says “you can’t take it with you” & “everyone’s waiting for you” all the people who were already in hell from his life and the woman in the doorway that you can never quite see is his mother. Incredibly creepy and brilliantly shot it’s so haunting and profound that he hears Meadow and that’s what pulls him back to the living. It’s her that brings him back and at the end of the series it her that’s the last thing he sees. That dream is the best, all of them are great at showing just how random and out of place dreams are and how quick they change.

I beleive the shadowy figure to represent death; or the thought of death weighing on tonys mind. While he was in his coma dream, the "livia" character appears in the house at the very end of it. The house was represented to be the point of crossing over from his coma into passing away if he stepped in and let go of his briefcase

Can I just say how much I genuinely LOVED the dream sequences? They added so much to the plot and made everything so more real. They say dreams are extensions of what a person lives in real life. You dread something, it will follow you into your dream and become your worst fear. You yearn for something, it will come true in your dream so that your subconcious is apeased. You are really sad and hurting, you might actually find peace and reach bliss while dreaming, because all good and evil need to balance out one way or the other. What I particularly loved about Tony dreaming is him horseback in the dining room. The play of words is amazing - Carmela says "no horse allowed in here" when in my oppinion she means "no whores" which is actually no more BS from Tony. He wants to keep his family, he will need to make a choice and leave his old degenerate life behind. But top of them all is him attending this big family gathering. Tony Blundetto welcomes him at the entrance (he had been long gone, whacked by Tony S by then) and wants to relieve him of his briefcase: "you can't bring business in here, let me take this from you, it looks like it weighs a ton". And Tony S goes: "I can't, my whole life is in there", while hearing his daughter's voice screaming "daddy, don't leave us, we love you". That was so beautifully written - while being bound to his mob life, Tony is strongly advised not to mix up family with business, cause family should come first. Gangster life is a great burden but Tony is not ready to led go of it. Meadow's voice as a child from an alternate reality brings him back to life, cause he is comatose and hallucinating, only for us viewers to see that an actual grown up Meadow is begging for her father to wake up. He eventually rose from coma, driven to beat death by the only human being he loved unconditionally.

My only problem is that he definitely loves both his kids unconditionally. He's disappointed in A.j. and he wishes he was different or stronger, but he still loves him. Thats clearly shown when A.J. fucks up doing himself in and Tony finds him in the pool. Tony's angry and his anger is with A.J., at first, but it becomes more anger at himself. "What the fuck is wrong with you?!?" He seems to scream, almost demanding an answer from himself on where he went wrong. "Why isn't A.J. who I think he should be? Why isn't he happy?"

It's all about his fears. Being exposed. Tony has suffered PTSD since childhood. Satriale's finger chopping pushed Tony into having his first panic attack. Then when he was supposed to join Tony B in that heist, he cracked his head open. Add those multiple car accidents, where he's knocked out. He even gets concussed in the coma dreams, falling down a flight of stairs. To fully understand Tony's psychological profile, through the Melfi sessions, we also need to study his dreams as well. The angst, unfulfilled needs, and failures is what haunts his subconscious.

The 'Test Dream' episode comes off the heels of Season 5 Episode 10 'Cold Cuts' where Tony goes up to Uncle Pat's farm where members of the family went to "work" at a young age. The Sopranos unintentionally dug up more than just bodies. Tony's "I have no piece" is similar to Chris' "I have no Arc" after a reporter is asked for input He also doesn't get into Chris' $50k car for the getaway I see this as another display of Tony's blatant hypocrisy to not accept that HE is the violent gangster riding around in expensive cars terrorizing the neighbourhood. Tony genuinely believes he is a good guy like Artie who is just in a family business
