Thanks to this song, it is now my headcanon that there's an elvish tradition for elves who leave Middle Earth to hang their swords and gems into a tree, as sort of a parting ritual, to show that they're done fighting, and will finally be able to rest from ages of war and weeping in the Great Lands, and as a proof that they learned their lesson not to lust for treasures. It just fits so well into Tolkien's world. I love it.

Typed Lyrics of Elven song, sorry, no translation, however, my own couple of paragraph remarks added) (3rd reply) - I didn't know that touching a friend was a Sorrow of the Elves, magic leaves, but love of friendship remains. Stronger that does not kill. I believe now I understand, each of these videos, are songs. All of it. The photos, videos, music, lyrics, artists, in front of, behind, the whole. I knew before, but as I keep listening, I believe each has brought that budding flower of realization, to a "found" flower, that was the "lost" flower. It has to be the Elves.

The singing artist sounds like Mary Black, one of the "Black Irish" of Ireland. I wonder if Regina Nathan, an Opera Singer, is also of a partial "Black Irish" descent, perhaps Italian ancestry too. Both are beautiful singing Artists. This singing Artists and the one person or more people who contributed, and especially who wrote this song, has brought beauty to our, or my, reality. I am grateful. It is a gift to listen.

I don't know of any elf in Tolkien's works that goes by that name, so my guess is that it's the singer's OC. The name, as far as I can tell with my limited knowledge of the Sindarin tongue, means 'Noble Gleam' or 'Noble and Generous'.

BUT IF YOU NEED TO KNOW : The song is based on a book called The Tree of Swords and Jewels. When each elf left the world they would hang their sword and their jewel (basically and magic personal necklace) on the great tree. So the tree is a collection of the memories of every elf who went away. Because Arafel is the last elf she is struggling with the decision to either stay in the world, or leave for the elven realm and relinquish her own sword and jewel to the tree. She misses her people and wants to be with them, but understands that if she leaves, the magic of the elves will leave with her. The tree is a painful reminder of this
