Once the SOS Band embraced the drum machines and synthesizers, ALL bets were off-and what Jam & Lewis did with ’em for the band: oh, my God! Peace.

I am glad to hear you say that . The things you mentioned are so very true . Not only that , there where soooo many Great Bands at that time . The 808 drum machine and Jimmy and terry , you said made all the difference in the world . Nice kicking it with you .

Some of it is still worth listening to like Anderson Paak which I think is the real deal but its hard work trawling through a lot of garbage to hear something good and most of the dross now sounds like trap music. I dont think it will ever go back to this quality, you are better off sticking to oldskool or tapping into modern jazz artists as R&B is mainstream and isn't worth the bandwidth now. Checkout artists like Domi, Hiatus Kaiyote, Princess Freesia, Incognito and bypass modern R&B altogether and get your soul back.

The difference is Luther vandross Sade SOS band do not use computer generated instruments. Beyoncé and Rihanna are great but. When you take a fresh piece of salmon and you sauteed and margarine and vegetable oil instead of olive oil and butter you're going to get a different product.
