A pure example of when BMW's were truly " The Ultimate Driving Machines ". Beamers really peaked in the 1990's with all their E- series models starting from the mid 80's thru the 90's and early 00's. As far back as the first 7-series in 1977 (E23) to the E38 (3rd Gen), this Flagship was always special and a pure drivers car. A proper European saloon that was built like a tank and doors that shut like vaults. I own a 00' BMW 740i M-sport (E38) and plan on doing a full restoration on it. Certain cars just have to be preserved.....and legacy BMW's are truly deserving of that? It's nothing quite like the naturally-aspirated engines, rear wheel drive, hydraulic steering, squared-bodied BMW's of old? They are truly special🙏🏼🙏🏽🙏🏾🙏🏻

The V8's didn't come with manuals from the factory on the E32's. This was likely an owner conversion, easily doable with parts from either the E31 8-series 840 or the E34/E39 540i's.

Manual V8 that’s a rarity. I am more familiar with the 3.5 Straight 6 as a friend’s dad had a 735! I remember the deep low rev boom of the engine…and that it was not that comfortable. The leather was hard and the headrests were like rocks. My other pal’s dad had a Jaguar Sovreign. That was a whole different world of comfort.

@houseofno
@houseofno 11 ай бұрын
Not really that. Very people order manual cars nowadays. Once the sales volume drops to a certain level, it ceases to make financial sense to offer it. Would you hand bake a lasagna large enough to feed twenty people if you were the only person eating it? Not likely. People forget car companies are in business not just to make cars, but to make money, preferably a profit. No profit means no incentive. It costs money to pay machinists to build the gears for the transmission, assemble it into a gearbox, assemble the car, you get the idea. Be sure to thank all those hypocrites who shouted the loudest for manual transmissioned BMWs, then turned around and bought automatic Camrys and Accords instead. I'm not surprised Honda canceled the Accord coupe, their V6, and the manual transmission at the end of the 2017 model year. If I were running a car business, I certainly wouldn't be spending my capital building products no one was buying. I can't say I blame them. What a waste. Money talks, BS walks....
