I love playing around with techniques like over blowing for higher notes and sliding my finger over a hole for bluesy note bending. I am having a blast with this newly found obsession. Thank you! Michael

Right before watching this I saw a t-shirt on Amazon that shows a glass 50% water and 50% air, then underneath it says technically the glass is completely full... Funny coincidence! 🤣 Love your videos Charlie!

I know this video was posted a year ago, but it is still new to me and very interesting. It helps to understand how the different pitches of sound are created by the length of the air space. I don't know if I said that correctly. Probably this also explains why the flute makes a high pitch sound when it gets wet at the sound hole. Thanks, Charlie for your dedication to flute making and teaching. 😇

Hey Conny, that was a great way to say it! Thanks so much for your input and feedback! I do have one more even better video on the subject coming out very soon. We have been working on it for a while.

Thank you! Much needed video. I got a question. Does 'covering the first hole and sound escaping through the second hole' vs 'covering the first hole and third hole (or fourth, fifth etc) and letting the sound espace though the second hole' produce the same note?
@BlueBearFlutes

No. It has to do with back pressure. That is an excellent question and one we will go over in an upcoming video.

This was great! Thanks for your thorough yet simple explanation. I have one of your small high toned flutes. I got it Christmas 2019 haven't used it much because I was learning the piano....but I am now planning on spending some quality time with my flute as well!

@@BlueBearFlutes I'm a systems engineer. It's how we problem solve 😁
@BlueBearFlutes
@BlueBearFlutes Жыл бұрын
@Norm Borger Do remember that your problem solving system that you learned in college is based on an idealism. I'm not sure about the time frame that you went to school however the idealism taught in college today is very skewed. Unlike others who are polarized to believe there is only one truth, I realize there are multiple truths. There are however observational facts that we can describe to the best of our ability. If I describe that fact in German it may have a little finer point to it than if I describe the same fact in Cherokee. That of course does not mean that modern day Germans are more technologically advanced than pre-columbian Cherokees it only means they have a more descriptive way of saying something. Because of names of things and descriptions of things, it is still only an opinion that the glass is even present. The undisputable fact is however, especially if you are an engineer (or a Buddhist), that the glass is always full! A blind man could see that!
