Hello darkness, my old friend I've come to talk with you again Because a vision softly creeping Left its seeds while I was sleeping And the vision that was planted in my brain Still remains Within the sound of silence In restless dreams I walked alone Narrow streets of cobblestone 'Neath the halo of a street lamp I turned my collar to the cold and damp When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light That split the night And touched the sound of silence And in the naked light I saw Ten thousand people, maybe more People talking without speaking People hearing without listening People writing songs that voices never share No one dared Disturb the sound of silence "Fools" said I, "You do not know Silence like a cancer grows Hear my words that I might teach you Take my arms that I might reach you" But my words like silent raindrops fell And echoed in the wells of silence And the people bowed and prayed To the neon god they made And the sign flashed out its warning In the words that it was forming And the sign said, "The words of the prophets Are written on the subway walls And tenement halls And whispered in the sounds of silence"

This is a fair bit easier to do than Disturbed's cover (holy hell that's hard!) but the timings are still throwing me off :( I learnt Avicii-The Nights Janji-Heroes Tonight Woodkid-Conquest of Spaces This is a different level of difficulty, that requires you to actively learn the song. You can't pick it just by listening as I did with The Nights. And then you get stuff like Cry Me a River by Michael Bublé and Disturbed's Cover of this song that are another far higher level of difficulty. It's mad how much difference there can be

This brings me back... I've been singing this song for over a decade, and I _still_ have trouble with the low notes. The fact that my throat is screwed up doesn't help...
@willdwyer67824 жыл бұрын
There's a KZbin video that has Paul Simon's isolated vocal. He sings harmony below Art Garfunkel, so he basically has all the low notes. If you can sing along with Paul's isolated vocal, it'll give you a good practice at singing the low notes.

just keep singing it the way you feel at ease with it, your heart counts, not your virtuosity in the first place.

That's exactly why I'm here, lol... Simon and Garfunkel songs are all *just* at the bottom of my range, so I'm singing them to try and practice it and hopefully sing lower notes than I'm able to now.

Because a vision softly creeping, Left its seeds while I was sleeping, And the vision that was planted in my brain И виденье то, проникнув в разум мой, Still remains Всё со мной, Within the sound of silence In restless dreams I walked alone В тревожных снах я шел один Narrow streets of cobblestone, В узких улиц лабиринт, ‘Neath the halo of a street lamp, Под ореолом фонаря, Озябнув сильно, воротник поднял, When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light В этот миг мне блеск неона ослепил глаза, That split the night Ночь разорвал, And touched the sound of silence And in the naked light I saw Ten thousand people, maybe more. Тысяч десять человек стоят People talking without speaking, И беседуют безмолвно, People hearing without listening, Слушают, не слыша словно, People writing songs that voices never share Пишут песни, что никто не станет петь, And no one dared Им не посметь Disturb the sound of silence Нарушить звук молчанья “Fools” said I, “You do not know "Дураки", - я им сказал, - Silence like a cancer grows. "Ведь молчанье словно рак, Hear my words that I might teach you, Вот мои слова, учитесь, Take my arms that I might reach you.” Вот моя рука, коснитесь" But my words like silent raindrops fell, Но слова немым дождем лились And echoed Вниз эхом В кладезе молчания Люд в мольбе стучался лбом Пред неоновым божком, И слова предупрежденья Ярко на щите горели, И гласил щит, Что слова от пророков пишут на стенах метро И стенах домов, Их шёпот прозвучал в молчании

This is the instrumental of the second version of the song released by original singers Simon and Garfunkel.(1966) The first one featured just voice and guitar in 1964.
@willdwyer67824 жыл бұрын
The original version with only vocals and a guitar was released October 1964 and didn't do anything on the charts. The overdubbed version with electric instruments and percussion was released 11 months later in September 1965. The overdubbed version reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 on New Year's Day 1966.

Somebody once told me the world is gonna roll me I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed She was looking kind of dumb with her finger and her thumb In the shape of an "L" on her forehead Well the years start coming and they don't stop coming Fed to the rules and I hit the ground running Didn't make sense not to live for fun Your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb So much to do, so much to see So what's wrong with taking the back streets? You'll never know if you don't go You'll never shine if you don't glow Hey now, you're an all-star, get your game on, go play Hey now, you're a rock star, get the show on, get paid And all that glitters is gold Only shooting stars break the mold

Through the light of belief, man rises to the highest of the high and acquires a value worthy of Paradise. And through the darkness of unbelief, he descends to the lowest of the low and falls to a position fit for Hell. For belief connects man to the All-Glorious Maker; it is a relation. Thus, man acquires value by virtue of the Divine art and inscriptions of the dominical Names which become apparent in him through belief. Unbelief severs the relation, and due to that severance the dominical art is concealed. His value then is only in respect to the matter of his physical being. And since this matter has only a transitory, passing, temporary animal life, its value is virtually nothing. We shall explain this mystery by means of a comparison: For example: among man’s arts, the value of the materials used and that of the art are entirely different. Sometimes they are equal, sometimes the material is more valuable, and sometimes it happens that five liras’ worth of art is to be found in material like iron worth five kurush. Sometimes, even, an antique work of art is worth a million while the material of which it is composed is not worth five kurush. If such a work of art is taken to the antiques market and ascribed to a brilliant and accomplished artist of former times, and announced mentioning the artist and that art, it may be sold for a million liras. See, page 295, footnote 19. " title="" style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px;">1 Whereas if it is taken to the scrap-dealers, the only price received will be for the five kurush’s worth of iron. Thus, man is such an antique work of art of Almighty God. He is a most subtle and graceful miracle of His power whom He created to manifest all his Names and their inscriptions, in the form of a miniature specimen of the universe. If the light of belief enters his being, all the meaningful inscriptions on him may be read. As one who believes, he reads them consciously, and through that relation, causes others to read them. That is to say, the dominical art in man becomes apparent through meanings like, “I am the creature and artefact of the All-Glorious Maker. I manifest His mercy and munificence.” That is, belief, which consists of being connected to the Maker, makes apparent all the works of art in man. Man’s value is in accordance with that dominical art and by virtue of being a mirror to the Eternally Besought One. In this respect insignificant man becomes God’s addressee and a guest of the Sustainer worthy of Paradise superior to all other creatures. However, should unbelief, which consists of the severance of the relation, enter man’s being, then all those meaningful inscriptions of the Divine Names are plunged into darkness and become illegible. For if the Maker is forgotten, the spiritual aspects which look to Him will not be comprehended, they will be as though reversed. The majority of those meaningful sublime arts and elevated inscriptions will be hidden. The remainder, those that may be seen with the eye, will be attributed to lowly causes, nature, and chance, and will become utterly devoid of value. While they are all brilliant diamonds, they become dull pieces of glass. His importance looks only to his animal, physical being. And as we said, the aim and fruit of his physical being is only to pass a brief and partial life as the most impotent, needy, and grieving of animals. Then it decays and departs. See how unbelief destroys human nature, and transforms it from diamonds into coal.

The Call of Duty, Warzone streamer version of this song - The chat of silence Hello chat bar my old friend, I’ve come to show you all some wins But now a viewer quietly watching, Catch my eye while I was botching, The greatest last circle play of the game, It was lame, And now, the chat of Silence Then this streamer sat alone, Gaming broadcast from my home, and then a viewer quietly viewed him, And then the streamer tried to engage them, But my eyes were met with the blackened chat bar Close but so far And watched, the chat of silence And in the empty chat, I saw At least one viewer, maybe more People watching without chatting People do you like me ratting? People seeing me loot boxes never shared teams unaware And still, the chat of silence “Hey” said I, “what up you bro’s” Anything you want to know? Like my thoughts on the pyramids? Take my advice that I can give? But my words like silent farts slipped right out, stunk about, behind the chat of silence And the person observed and stayed Without single word they made The number changed without warning Just while I was still forming, Breaking records, the viewer number now says that it’s three, chat bar seemed to be, So so blank, in the chat of silence -positive energy, peace and blessings to everyone!! Cheers!

@@Branes51 Are you sure? Even original singers can have a song remade. Simon and Garfunkel once recorded a version that sounded all acoustic with little to no other instrumentation other than their voices and an acoustic guitar. This version also includes a band, featuring electric guitar, bass guitar, drum, and possibly keyboard. Check it out. It should be on KZbin.
