i’m half nicaraguan and this language was also spoken by some of the indegenous peoples on the pacific coast of nicaragua. in fact in the 19th century the vernacular common language was a mix between nahuatl(nawat) and spanish. a very culturally symbolic performance called el güegüense was originally performed and told in this mixed language. güegüense actually comes from the word huehue which meant “old or wise man”. not to mention of our national dishes the nacatamal comes from this langaue, “nakatamal”, and many words from nawat (nahuatl) and other languages of the nicaraguan pacific coast have influenced nicaraguan spanish.

Similar to “Tacuache”, “Tlacuache”, or “Tlacuatzin” in Nahuatl from Mexico. It seems to be that Mexico and El Salvador have ancestors of the same or similar origin

Studying Classical Nahuatl and learning about Proto-Nahuan, I hadn't really given a look to Nawat, and it's funny to try and find where the lexical/grammatical splits occured and from which PN roots/words (especially, to me, "yek" ("good, right, well") being used here as a standalone adverb when "yēc" is incorporated to the verbstem in Classical, and "takamayat" ("bear") equivalent to CN "tlācamāyeh", "who has (-eh) human (tlāca-) hands (mā(y)-)", showing that that final -h in CN might come from a PN -t and isn't just an apocope of the common PN verb ending -ha like I read sometimes, except if Nawat is the one who went h>t)
