The Roman poet Ennius once wrote that: "I have three hearts. One in Latin, one in Greek and one in Oscan" in regards to his fluency in all of them.

Don Quixote once said: "Homer didn't write in Latin because he was Greek. And Vergil didn't write in Greek because he was Roman. The Catalans and even the Basques should write in their mother tongues, not in _castellano_ , without any shame". He meant: The notion of considering a foreign language higher than one's own is stupid and artificial. In the Antiquitiy, people weren't such idiots. Every mother tongue deserves to be the language of a literature and the people of the Antiquity knew that (in his view). In a way, he was right.Any and every mother tongue does deserve to be the language of a literature. Catalan, Basque, Ukrainian (faced similar problems in the 19th century) and so much more all over the globe. However, Vergil did live at the very time where literary Greek was considered higher than Latin and probably did write in Greek sometimes. Homer, on the other hand, surely didn't use any Latin, that's true. Because in his time, Rome had just formed as a city and learned to write. At best. If he lived in the 8th or 7th century BC. If he lived earlier (which is possible), Rome probably had not yet achieved even that. At best, Homer knew there was a place called Rome and a Latin language spoken there.

Latin made the other Italic languages fall out of use quickly during the Roman republic because the italic languages were so closely related to begin with. So at least in the way that Vulgar Latin in the late republic / early empire started to change has been attested to be influenced by Oscan. The AU sound becoming a O for example that eventually becomes common in most Romance languages. The tales of Claudius Pulcher referring to himself as Clodius to echo the “people’s speech” is an example I learned about in school.

Could you do Potawatomi (neshnabémwen/bodéwadmimwen) its similar to western Ojibwe (anishinaabemowin) and even more similar to Eastern Ojibwe/Odawa (nishnaabemwin) in fact neshnabémwen and nishnaabewmin are pronounced exactly the same they just use a different spelling system, they split off ~800 years ago and both have a considerable amount of vowel syncope compared to western ojibwe.

The title sequence of the video is inaccurate, fangvam is accusative, and the title needs the nominative case. I'm not sure if oska (osks, would be the male singular) is actually an Oscan adjective, but if it is, the -a ending would not be female. So, if you want an accurate title (although you will be reconstructing unknown words), it might be: *Fangvú Úskú* (Fangvo Osko)

Salve@@mauro1101!
