Thanks for the notes, Thom! Just picked up the NoiseAssist license and am using the 2 instances exactly as you are - applied to the L&R mix bus. Leaving ISOs clean for post. Next stop - SL-2. How are you liking yours?

Hey Richard I’m flat loving the SL-2!! With the SL-2 the 833 becomes a genuine 8 iso track machine as you can utilize inputs 7 & 8 via the SL-2 freeing up your normal mic pre inputs for additional microphones or RF’s. The front end of the SL-2 is more sensitive and when you see red flashing lights don’t hesitate to go into the menu and cut the antenna attenuation by -6 or -12. If you experience hard squelch hits it likely that’s the case and the front end is over loading on the RF’s. I appreciate the comment!! Cheers!!

Hi Thom! What did you find to be too limiting about the 633 but not the 833? Did you use Cedar DNS2 beforehand, what in general did you most often use as your noise reduction settings on that?

The fact that the 633 only has three genuine inputs was very off putting to me. The TA3’s don’t have limiter functions so it just wasn’t enough of a unit for my tastes. ;-)

Sorry I missed the Cedar part! I have played with it but never really used it in the field.

@@thomshafer5652 Very much the same reasoning for me too. Just wondering if there might have been other reasons why people avoided the 633. I had a few other factors which contributed: even with six inputs that is a bit limiting (the 8 or even 10 or the 833 is so much better!), restrictive character limit for metadata, super picky with media used (having a built in SSD solves that!), etc

Are you powering your 833 with NP1's and L-Mounts simultaneously?

Yes, the L mounts take over seemlessly when I swap NP1’s or the voltage drops too low.

Hey Thom! Thanks for the vid. Very few reviews on the 8 series out there. SD said they’re including a Demo version of the Noise Assist limited to two instances. Is that what you’re using? Is the Demo fully functional? Thanks in advance.

Hey, I'm using the standard purchased 2 instances. I bought it when it was first released and love it! It truly opens up the world for subtle improvements to locations. In my case it has already more then paid for itself in billing!

@@thomshafer5652 thanks! I’m pretty sure your clients are really impressed. How efficient it is with distant traffic, sirens and airplanes? Just to clarify, the Demo wasn’t included when you bought the 833 then?

It really works best with constant sounds like air handlers, white noise and room reverberation. And no the demo didn’t exist when I bought my plug in!

could have made the point in 30sec,. or make an hour long clip where you toggle a/b 100x
