The explanation regarding genlock / timecode is very helpful. Thank you! 00:01:31

I am very glad I found your channel! I'm right in the middle of building a similar cart. How do you handle your exterior cable management and battery distribution when on remote location?

For remote power I’m able to run the cart with NP1’s for quite a while or a generator. My new cart is with a Scorpio and CL-16 so when I finish that build I will likely go with a PSC power system.

Good cart run down. I have been following you and your gear demos on Facebook for a few years. Rock on!

The ambient master lockit sends a continuous wierless timecode pulse to all the slave lockits therefore keeping the whole system in sync. Wouldn't that effectively eliminate the need for genlock?
@thomshafer56523 жыл бұрын
No, most cameras only look at timecode when they roll and then continue to run on their own internal clock which is the week link. Genlock takes control of the camera clock and keeps it running in sync with all the other cameras. This comes into play on long takes or continuous roll shows. Without Genlock the cameras drift over time.

@@thomshafer5652 Wouln't that just be the case with external jam sync? I'm sure if the camera had regen functionality, it continuously reads the timecode input bypassing its internal clock? cheers

is there something you would change? Seems like mixer carts are awfully complicated. What would you do to make it simpler? I am looking to do a similar set up but only for music at home.

For working in the field there really isn’t a lot different I would do. We rely on dc power and portability to try and flow through a lot of different situations and locations. If you’re building a home studio I would think you could easily spread it out quite a bit more?

I don't di TV live at all, what's the dialers for?
@thomshafer56524 жыл бұрын
The dialers are for communications so on air talent can hear the show and producers in their ear with an IFB and the 2nd dialer is communications for the camera person who is on the line with the director for camera cues and moves. Hope that helps!
