I'm an English woman , born in England in 1956! And for no reason I knew of at the time, I used to bang out that beat on my school desk while waiting for a teacher to arrive. I'd also sing the same sounds as in this video. I'd go into my own world whilst doing this. Fast forward to a few years ago and a maternal dna test! Which put in contact with my choctaw cousins in Oaklahoma. So It all falls into place now, native America is in my dna! And I couldn't be more proud if I tried. 💙❤️🙂🥰

Thank you for sharing this. The Indigenous Nations have so many beautiful parts of your culture. Music flutes, drums, pottery, jewelry, the dancing regalia, the customs, the festivals and celebrations. I have a long loved the Native American culture. Same for my daughter. My husband's maternal great grandparents tribe, the Chickasaw, split in Arkansas at the river. They have never been recognized for that very stupid reason. When my daughter was in elementary school, she would cry because all the other indigenous children got to go to Indian Heritage Classes, but not her. I told her not to worry because between her two sets of parental grandparents, she had way more actual bloodline than all of them put together. One sixteenth or an eighth is what those other kids were bragging about. Good grief, my husband's paternal grandpa told me that English was not his first language and his mama was Cherokee. Then he married a full blood Cherokee. My husband's maternal great grandparents are the ones whose tribe split up in Arkansas.

@@Dr.Randy.Butternubs I guess it's subjective, but given it's written in 4/4 with cycling melodies I'd say it's super Western. At least compared with genres like Hindustani music or even the Icelandic music that eventually evolved into post-rock. In principle, most Native American music is fundamentally similar to the early bluegrass that came over from Scotland, or even the West African tribal music that evolved into the Blues. @@puppetseducer bro that's not what they meant they meant as in modern American dance moves are like crip/blood walks are very clearly inspired by traditional native dances that are hundreds of years old. obviously we didn't originate dancing. but neither did Africans rlly, dancing is an art which is subjective yk which could mean in some1s eyes certain animal mating displays could be considered the first dancing if u want to be technical

As an old punk rocker I can tell you Native Americans influenced our dancing in the early 1980s, today in the punk scene it is known as The Circle...yep, circle dancing, the symbol of our community and punk culture. .
