It's not new to us how corrupt our sports officials are. How many times our Senate conducted investigations on our sports commissioners for corruption that led to lackluster performance in every international competition? There have been many athletes before James delos Santos who also suffered the same fate when they stood up against certain officials. James is not the only Cebuano world-class athlete who suffered from the hands of sport official. There was the marathoner Mary Joy Tabal, also a Cebuano, who, in 2017, was snubbed by PATAFA official for the 29th SEA Games allegedly for not following rules and disrespecting officials. Maybe because Cebuanos don't usually kowtow or consent to irregularities so they often stand up for truth.
