This is embarrasing. How do we argue against privatisation when our government exhibits such incompetence? Actually the line between incompetence and corruption at this point is so blurry we can't tell the difference.

by holding governments accountable a service which the EFF has been doing for South Africa but has been grossly underappreciated. Of course we have things like bargaining councils as well.

This is a serious problem that businesses are facing. My Uncles farm had a similar problem with his farm. Long story short, it left his farm in financial ruin. This government continues to fail us

If there are 300,000 plus violations of the National Treasury’s regulations, why hasn’t anyone sued the government? Is it even possible to do so and what are the barriers that stop suppliers from taking things to court.

A civil engineer woman who has done excellent social housing building in jhb has not been pd by government for at least 3 milj. Small business woman owned. Because of that 4 people who worked for her have been retrenched. Those 4 people had families who were dependent on those incomes.

The private sector is the best when it comes to payments

That is not true. Private sector is actually worse. My business supplied Bidvest Car Rental with supplies. Bidvest never before 45 days. The usual period was 60 days.

Great analysis, mfanakithi. Well done. It seems to me that there is one more square root to perform on this problem to get to the root cause. I think there is a break in approval chain of payments. Could be something as simple as an approver is on sick leave? Perhaps simply improving approval systems and IT workflows could lubricate the engine. Imagine if a system of submitting invoices fails fast if the invoice is missing some relevant data. If data is complete, workflow is automated. With escalations at each stage. But ke oPanyaza basa busy balwa no Zille. Abakhokhi.

Those are PAYMENT TERMS and NOT late payment. It's not the same thing. Pick n Pay for example pays after 90 days. That doesn't mean they pay late.

Government is bad but the private sector (Especially the Advertising industry) is worse! The standard there is 45days,with some agencies taking up to 90days to pay media owners!
