The streamliner is the best looking train ever built. From the engine to the last car on the end. It's all beautiful.

Very interesting. I have passed through Woodstock for years, on my way to Selma, my hometown, and never would have known that this happened there. Very tragic.

RR Picture archives has an album of photos from this crash. Budd built coach 833 telescoped into baggage dorm coach Mississippi and 16 of the 17 fatalities occurred in the Mississippi car. The Mississippi was built by Pullman Standard. Pullman earlier claimed pre war Budd built cars weren't crashworthy but car 833 was built in 1949. It stayed in service til at least 1978 but I couldn't find info on its disposition after Amtrak picked up the Crescent in 1979.

The EMD E units were the best looking engines ever. Wish Amtrak would have stuck to a similar design for their new engines.

Toss those silly assed ditch lights, paint the grad irons green and remove the crescent decals. Make her look like a newly delivered loco!

Is it me, or 6900 has the "torpedo tube" modification to its air tanks that is seen on some GP9s?

My cousin June recreating my Great Uncle Roy Beaver's orange VW Beetle was the best video yet.😄 He used to get run off from the A&P parking lot for selling cheaper produce out of it. Loved that old man! ♥️ kzbin.info/www/bejne/eqDQiXd8jcdnarc

*What about # 6901? I'm confused... Are they twins or what? If so, pretty lazy to not mention...*

6900, 6901, 6913 and 6914 are all sisters. (I don't know the whereabouts of the third engine, but it's preserved somewhere and non-operational). I also think the 13 and 14 spent time on New Jersey Transit after their life pulling The Crescent

What I find missing in this . Hmmm Southern was the last private rail line that was operating passanger trains after the formation of Amtrak . Southern Crescent and Piedmont remained in service when all others went to Amtrak. I can't figure why this would be omitted.
