Thanks for the video. Sorry about disaster. My grandfather was a engineer on the southern rwy. in va. The gentleman doing this video. I like the hat he was wearing . Where can i get one.

My uncle Nelson his wife and young baby were on that train. They all died on their way home for Christmas. My father was in the South Pacific in the 1st Marine Division 1st Amphib Tractor Battalion was sent home because of this accident.

Thank you for posting this! I was thinking about this the other day and couldn't remember if it happened to an ACL passenger train, or a Southern Railway passenger train!

I sent a letter to Amtrak President W. Graham Claytor, Jr. asking him to rebrand the "Silver Meteor" to its rightful "Champion" name, but go nowhere fast. The tarnished "Silver Service" is a disgrace so I'm not sure if I want to see the "Champion" running without a full service diner serving all passengers.

Well yeah this is completely accurate for the most part, 501 is an E3A, not an E1.
