This film was shot in 1950 by an amateur filmmaker who traveled from Squamish to Quesnel and return on the Pacific Great Eastern Railway. The film starts at the Squamish BC docks, the southern terminus of the railway. There is a short stop at the PGE Squamish north yard for a quick tour of the facility before proceeding into the world famous Cheakamus Canyon. Other locations include Whistler, Pemberton and Lillooet. After returning to Squamish we take a Union Steamship through Howe Sound to Vancouver.
*Footage of the southbound trip is not completely in order but I decided not to alter the filmmakers original editing.
Enjoy this color footage of one of the most spectacular railway journeys in the world.
