Great episode! I can remember getting my first Speccy in '83. I'd saved my paper round money until I had enough for a 48k model - saving took months and months! When I eventually travelled into the city with my Dad there were no Speccys to be had in *any* of the computer outlets. Needless to say, as a 14-year-old, I was devastated! I reserved one in one of the computer outlets and had to wait a few more weeks until I could get my hands on one. I also remember seeing Knightlore for the first time - it was running on a Speccy in one of the local computer shops. A friend and I were blown away by it! The early '80s were a truly magical time for me. I would travel back to those times in a heartbeat. So thank you Paul for the glorious nostalgia of those times.

Same story here. I don't know how long is saved for the 48K model. And when I got it, I had no money for games. So the first couple of weeks only type-ins. :) Those were truly magical times...

Lode runner was one of the first games to feature a level designer which made it more interesting

It is 38 years ago this Christmas since I received my first Spectrum, at the perfect age for such a gift of 12! I had already picked up a few cheap games from WH Smith and Boots in the previous few months, but spent ages playing Checkered Flag and Horace Goes Skiing from the bundled games. Some great memories from the following few years, especially the C64 Vs Spectrum playground wars! Thanks for the videos, and...... 10 PRINT "Happy Christmas to all." 20 GOTO 10

Lose Runner, such a great game. The version you have their, with the AY music, JS Bach of Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring covers levels from the first game and the Championship game, too, hence 150-levels. Great Spectrum Show, like always. Thanks!

Merry Xmas Paul. Great episode as always. I can see a few printer interface reviews coming up. Xmas is always a happy time for me with the Spectrum as I got mine Xmas 1984. First game I played on it was Chequered Flag, which was one of the bundled games. I also liked the Horizons tape, and played Thru the Wall a lot. The Spectrum+'s introductory tape was great as well for introducing people to the Speccy.

Ah man, lode runner is SO good, and I think it does offer something different - especially considering when it was released - it moves so slickly and the ‘one more go’ feeling is definitely there. Mind you, I have the same addiction to Chaos and I think from memory you didn’t like that either. Ah well. Still love ya Paul - lovely unexpected Xmas present this video was. Just watched this again, I still can't believe you made that game in three days, you should be proud! I couldn't do that in six months! okay you said "the graphics are passable" well, I'm sorry I have to disagree, I think the graphics are charming and fit the game well. I've played many games that didn't look that good and considering you did it in three days? You should be delighted with the outcome!

It wasn’t Xmas unless you found yourself sitting cross legged on the floor of your chilly bedroom loading a new spectrum game while the rest of the family were downstairs in the warm. Also, I can’t get my head around why at the end of each level of the snowman, instead of getting the very well known snowman theme you get Rudolph the red nosed reindeer. Talk about missing an open goal

Underwurld was for me the best Ultimate game. Controls was not great, yes, but I stormy the most time on it for any Speccy game ever.
