Alright, here you go you spin freaks, here is me hitting into a green. I recorded this when I was just messing around towards the end of my time with the game so it isn't a perfect test. This gives you an idea of the spin rates though.

Nix man why do people like you compare every new game to games with the best graphics possible. This game has a quarter of the budget that nba2k has. So they are spending all the money on making the mechanics of the game great. Not worrying about the graphics as much. The graphics aren’t that bad at all. If you focus on graphics w every game you play you will be sorely disappointed most of the time.

Another great video. Unfortunately, you didn't know this at the time, but it would have been ideal to showcase the backspin with very fast/very soft greens to see the maximum backspin potential. The very fast speed maximizes the roll distance, and the very soft firmness lets the spin really grip the surface on impact and maintain a shallow bounce to minimize the spin loss in the air on the initial bounce. Backspin on a VFast/VSoft green can be pretty severe, and even more so when slopes come into play. IIRC, the driving range green is med/med.

Yeah if I had more time I would have made a much better control area to show the maximum spin you can put on the ball in ideal conditions. I hope at least that people can see, just from this video, how much 2K21 differs from 2019 and other golf games. Spin rates in this game are sooo much better than previous iterations.

Glad you guys discussed this. Now I know why my spin was so different each time Each course even. Basically have to treat it like real life conditions to real life spin. I’m glad this is more realistic than Tiger woods when you could spin the ball mid flight and change it even at last second. Thanks guys.

Only gripe is that every full shot launches the same. A 4 iron doesn’t launch that high at all.

All the shots are in the perfect range. I'm lucky to get 2 or 3 perfects per round. How is this possible? Using a mouse.

Been playing this game series since it was The Golf Club. It's just 7 years of experience in the game, that's all. Keep practicing and the perfects will come.

Funny, i was going to ask you if you could go to the pitching/chipping green and hit in to it from the range. My favorite practice area. Most people don't even know you can do this, great tip. Was this spin dialed to the max for these shots? I takevit you cannot control the wind on the range? Does using more spin or any of the other shot shapping tools make the shot harder from a plane or tempo standpoint?

Can't control the wind unfortunately. This was the max amount of spin with shot shaping. You can overpower the shot more and also slow the shot to add more spin if you would like. The more you try to shot shape the harder it makes the shot overall.

It's actually good to try these on the golf course. Importance of practice and technique. Except the game doesn't incorporate probabilities for optimal golf shots. It does teach course management

The golf club 2019 is a great game. Has its flaws. But you have a basically unlimited amount of courses. This one will be more expensive for sure but itll be fun. Both are good options

Yeah, training and go to the driving range. From there you can hit the range or go to chipping practice and you can take shots from anywhere on the map. Turn on auto mulligan and it will let you take shots from the same location.

This was from the preview event last week. I also don't think this was zero point either. This video still shows spin rates on the game and also shows that this isn't 2019. People will have to wait until the 21st to run their own tests unfortunately. I don't have access to make new content for it until then.

Yep, there is no place around the green where I can hit a flop shot from fairway onto the green. I chose light rough with the best lie I could get. Also you are mainly going to be hitting flop shots from the rough so that is what they will look like.

The height the ball attains looks way too high, especially the longer irons!

Totally agree Ian, unless its the camera angle playing tricks.Long irons look way too high. The pitch shots look like the ball flight is way too high. Pitch shots are usually 3/4 length swing knock down shots. They fly like a full shot in this video.

It is into wind with "probably" max spin and max loft to get the maximum spin possible, from my point of view when I hit a shot into wind it does balloon up rather than forward, only way to know if this is a thing in the game is try, normal lift and spin and top spin and deloft the club with the same wind but also with a downwind to see if the flight really changes... I'm sure we can do these tests when we get the game next week 😁

Callam Thomson Thank you for your reply. As a player of ‘Perfect Golf’, where the physics are probably the best in any golf game, I am particularly interested in the ground and air physics. It will be interesting to see how the full game plays but I won’t be buying it until I’m sure it’s as good as, or better than PG. The ground physics in your beta version also don’t look quite right at the moment. The ball seems to bound and roll too much in my opinion. Small things I know but quite important and I’m sure the developers will tweak the settings after feedback from the community.

I've pre-ordered 2k21 as it just seems soo good and can't wait for a challenge, I did find the last one to get boring just trying to hit ridiculous numbers that are unrealistic. I am normally like yourself waiting for videos to see if its worth the buy, definitely intrigued with the other game you mentioned so will have a look at that too!

Callam Thomson Perfect Golf has been out a few years now but plays very nicely. Unfortunately the developers abandoned the game last year so we’ve just been left with a ‘bare bones’ of a golf game. The course designer uses ‘Unity’ but unlike this game you can import Lidar maps into the designer to get very accurate real life courses. It’s only available on Steam. If you want to try the game I suggest waiting until it’s on offer.
