Great reaction, Mark! I was born in 62 (yes, I'm an old fart), and absolutely loved the R&B, Soul and Motown sound of the early 70s. This song definitely takes me back to a time when life was pretty simple for me.

1970-1974 AM radio soul music was the soundtrack of my childhood. 🔥 Bop! Iconic. Instant worldwide viral hit. The songs on the radio, early 70s, were off the chain: Bill Withers, Four Tops, Stylistics, Spinners & Smokey Robinson were just another Tuesday afternoon. Omg. I am rich!

Always loved this song, my fave Spinners song. Great memories from the 70’s, my teenage years. R&B from that era is a bottomless crystal clear lake of pure feeling. Used to tell my wife i wanted this song played at my funeral, that’s the awesomeness of this tune. I’ve since decided that “I’ll Be Around” might not be what people at a funeral want to hear.

2:18 YES! Rappin’ 4 Tay sampled it in a song of the same name. I had to look up his name so the name may not be familiar to you either but I could definitely hear it in a rap in my head. 1994 so if you look it up, you might recognise it, too 😁. As an aside, may I recommend Paulo Nutini - Iron Sky? Outstanding performance. His voice and the instruments accompanying him are so powerful ❤

I had the good fortune to see The Spinners live back in about 1982, or so, and they were awesome. If you grew up in that era then they are one of those groups that does song after song and you keep saying to yourself, "Oh, yeah, they did this one, too!" Such a deep catalog of great tunes. Welcome to yet another fantastic rabbit hole, Mark!

Motown, and the groups that came out under that banner were the SHIT back then. From circa 1962/63, it was Motown and The Beachboys all over Top 40 radio. Then The Beatles brought The British Invasion, but Motown kept churning out hit after hit. So many memories of being a teen and driving around with my friends after school or on a Saturday with the radio blaring The Supremes, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Martha and the Vandelas…., and The Spinners. This was fun music that put a smile on your face snd made you want to dance.

@@Cosmo-Kramer thank you for the information. Obviously, I cannot tell the difference. Can you explain the difference? Is it the tempo? Or is it simply that The Spinners were from Philly and not Detroit? Or something else? Always glad to learn more about music.

@Cosmo-Kramer Жыл бұрын
@@w.geoffreyspaulding6588 The Spinners were from Detroit but did not have any success in the '60s under the Motown label. When Philadelphia became the new capitol of Soul/R&B in the early '70s, The Spinners moved there and with the help of some legendary Philly Soul producers and songwriters, they churned out hit after hit after hit, throughout the whole decade.

Love your reaction, Brain Squeeze. I was walking the corridors of Sir Francis Drake High School, midway through my years there. Taking a classmate to the Homecoming Game (U.S. Football). Bowling youth league at Greenbrae Lanes. Sitting at home getting lost in The Spinners, Three Dog Night, and all the great artists of the early 70's, which for me started with the great artists of the late 60's. It was all there, and we all grooved to it.

Awesome song from the Spinners! It’s very popular song to listen and jam to. Not only did I hear it on the radio 📻 a lot, but I also heard it from one of DMX’s albums that my bro have, which is called “The Great Depression”, as it was a snippet from the interlude track called “Pull Up”(skit). And highly recommend to listen 🎧 to their song “Games People Play”, which is also great song 🎵 to jam to. Not sure 🤔 if the song is sampled fro different artist or not, though, but it sure is interesting if it was sampled. Thanks so much for sharing your reaction and it’s a like and thumbs up.😄👍#thespinners

I was in 8th grade at the time this came out and just starting to pay attention to girls. So everything was a new adventure and this song and others like it were the soundtrack of the summer which was so awesome. I know it was a simpler time and we were late bloomers compared to kids today, but I still remember when we were taught square dancing in our physical education class and we were paired up with girls to dance with and I hit the lottery on that one. And I still remember the tingle I felt when we held hands. How many of you can recall the first time you held a girl's hand or, yikes, touched her lips with yours?
