Note that if you have Christ's Spirit you are Not in the flesh, this is a permanent condition, from here on you are in the Spirit.you may choose not to obey the Spirit and suffer the consequences but He will always be with you from here on.The Spirit has united to your spirit at the new birth and this cannot be undone. Too bad it did not continue with the verse that says that our body is dead because of sin but our spirit is life because of righteousnes and because of the influence of the Spirit in us, it will give life to our bodies " this is not referring to the resurrection " meaning that our flesh will be made alive in the sense that it will not be an enemy of God anymore.

This text has nothing to do with whether one is indwelt with the Spirit or not - this entire section is about whether one is allowing the Holy Spirit to live through the one who has already received the Holy Spirit (see Romans 5:5). In other words, it is about walking in the Spirit.

Sorry but I can't see how walking in the spirit means something different to having the spirit in you. Most say that's basically the same thing. In both expressions the spirit has fallen upon the person.

@@HearGodsWord, I agree with you! Once we get saved, the holy spirit is indwells in us! It doesn’t leave us when we walk in disobedience or sin! Of course sin/disobedience has it consequences. I believe Paul is making a distinguished between the saved and the unsaved!
