However, now the use of tifa has turned into a musical instrument in various rituals and traditional arts such as: traditional parties, weddings, welcoming important guests, accompanying dances, and so on. Atowo is a kind of elliptical percussion instrument with a relatively small size and light weight. The atowo musical instrument is played with one hand holding the atowo body, while the other hand beats the atowo using a punch technique in order to produce a harmonious rhythm. In the tradition of the Papuan people, this musical instrument is commonly used in various arts and folk entertainment
