Wolf Lord Rho.... The imperiums religion worships the god emperor first... but Sanguinius is also worshipped throughout the imperium by its citizens 2nd only to the God Emperor, and has his own festival in Sanguinala. So if worship has empowered the emperor over the last 10 thousand years, then worship has also empowered whatever shards/echo of Sanguinius remain - especially within the warp. Oh you said this ;)

personally i think sanguinius will be the last primarch to return. it will be like an all or nothing attack on terra and when big e is about to meet his end the hawkboy will arrise again.

I agree that he'll be last to return, but I don't think it will be the near destruction of Terra, but the near Death of on of his Returned brothers, wherein Dante as the Angels Flesh and the Sanguinor with Mephiston as the Dark an Light Souls of the Angel

I agree it's Sanguinius or possibly Ferris Manus as they are both dead. I actually thought Lion'el would be first returned as we've always knew where he was, and he wasn't poisoned and in stasis. Although they did cleverly write Guillimans disciple of the imperial truth and rigidity into his return well Johnson was the far more believable Primarch to return or Russ even plus of all the Primarchs it's Lion'el who wants the job always has and was written way more morally flexible than Guilliman who as Malcador said "Is off building Empires somewhere" He only takes the helm reluctantly when his Father empire is in trouble and avoids the Warmaster title for Regent and that very word means temporary or in place of. He should've been not last but very near the last.

I feel like what most people forget is that if the Emperor is, or will become a true 'God' in terms of the warp, then much like the Chaos Gods, his 'Champions' can and will just be brought back to life. Angron to Khorne, Sanguinius to the Emperor. Or, that the souls of the Primarchs are entirely unlike normal humans souls. They're more potent, powerful, durable. More like Eldar souls, which, before Slaanesh, could be brought back from the Warp. So, we even have 'in-universe' lore backing up it working for Sanguinius and Ferrus. To me, it's less a matter of 'if' and more 'when' and 'how'.

Their souls are NOT like eldar either. More like a arch demon. Their souls do not dissipate in the warp. Theres a passage a chaos marine say about how incredible its to see the soul of a dead primarch in the warp.

@bobmckelvey7905 Yes and no. His BODY was cloned and he retained his memory, but he lacked a Primarch spirit so he was incomplete. This is why Abbadon was able to kill him.

I feel the secret to his possible resurrection is tied to Baal , with the history behind the Angel of light fighting the Angel of darkness .. something tied to a prophecy almost . With how the warp is affected by belief . He is on baal . His body . I do hope they expand the mythology of Baal with the blood angels . I do hope it leads to his return , but , with regards to the warp ,the brighter the light , the deeper the darkness . Like the corruption would react to smother it .

We do know that the Emperor and Malcador were going to bring Manus back to life (full life not what was in the webway) while Horus forced Manus’s ghost/spirit to tell Sangunius to give up and side with Horrus before their fight. The lore stated that a primarch’s soul was either a minor warp god or extremely powerful warp entity fused with some of the Emperor when given the Primarch body. Which when Corax was last seen in the eye of terror face to face with Logar his true warp self was revealing along with his warp powers. Then seen when Bile was creating perfectly generic primarchs yet they were missing what made them a primarch that wasn’t inn heir dna. Until a clone of Fulgrim had his warp soul enter the Clonegrim making him perfect. Also rumored in the lore that Sanguinius had two warp souls/entities. One of light and hope the other of darkness and bloodlust. Supposedly Mephisto has the dark soul attached to him while Dante has the light.

i personally think theres is more to what your saying .... if you remember during the vigilus campaign the VS was hit badly by the eldari stealth ship almost braking the VS in half the ship is said to have some level of sentience these days and as its kind of believed by some that Sangys souls or a "shard" of it is/was trapped on the VS until the attack at vigilus which possibly was free'd ... now this is around the time that mephy went through his primeris transformation due to holding to much psyker power during the boarding action on the nurgle infested ship so my theory on the appearance of sangy is that as the rift opened it allowed part of sangys soul to swim the tides of the warp allowing him to come to dante .... he was softer to dante then when speaking to mephy he was somewhat colder as emps was to gilly but still showed some hidden level of love this i believe is due to that shard from the VS finding its way back to Sangy in the warp ... remember the had to perform an emergency warp jump ...... i probably reaching but tbh i think im close ....

There are three characters that would forever break the setting should they show up in the present. The Emperor (as a healthy man), Horus, and Sanguinius. They are the three dipicted in the earliest lore art for the setting. Both the painting, and Mike McVay's diorama (not sure which came first). These three dying (or close enough) in that scene IS 40k.

Yes his spirit does live on in the warp. Yes it is getting stronger. I wouldn't be surprised if at some future point GW brings him back in some form in the lore and the game. But it would pretty much be at the very end of bringing the primarchs back, including Ferrus Manus.

All dead primarch souls are active in the warp because their souls are too powerful. That's how i know Dorn is still alive somewhere. Only Horus's soul was completely destroyed by the Emperor so it doesn't exist in the warp.

He is dead forever and the only people who say he isn’t are the youtube view baiters who count on people who didn’t read or listen to the book to believe it. Horus was killed with a knife that Cain killed Abel with and Emperor channeled his entire psychic might through it when he stabbed Horus in the heart.

Yeeep he's alive (spirit). Even if given the chance he wouldn't want to come back. We do know now thanks to recent fluff that his body is PRESERVED underneath some crypt on one of Baal's moon. Next, we know that he's able to speak with his sons only breifly. He gave Dante a 1:1 when he was delusional at the end of The Devastation of Baal, then he had a lore dump to give to Mepheston in Darkness in the Blood when he became a Primaris Space Marine to contain his power that was growing out of control. (thanks to the rift and thanks to over exertions during the nid invasion). With her undead powers, its possible for the new Eldar fraction to raise him if they met his corpse, but he'd refuse all considering.

Sanguinius' soul is also split. There's a shard that still lingers on the vengeful spirit. While Sangy's main soul shard is still conscious as we saw in devastation of baal, it needs a host body and the rest of its missing shards if Sanguinius is to come back to life

@ that is not what is written in the most recent lore, which is end and the death 3. And EatD3 was approved by GW. So they approve of Sanguinius’ soul no longer existing. The devastation of Baal is from years ago. The only reason I could see for Abnett to go out of his way to write what is above is to make it clear that Sanguinius cannot return. His soul isn’t in shards. It does not exist.

I think sanguinius will return but not for awhile. Sanguinius had foresight into the future and knew that him sacrificing himself to horus was the best path to take. I think Sanguinius knew that he would eventually return but his legion would suffer without him but it was necessary for the blood angles to survive and eventually overcome the black rage. I think the Lion will have something to do with Sanguinius return because the emperor asked him to help the blood angles.

Love papa SanG, and am a Blood Angels collector. But despite being my fav Primarch, he should not make a return now. It would strongly undermine the traumatic existence of that defines the Blood Angels in 40k, and is my favourite thing about them.

30 k lore never stated how he died only that he did which led to so man fan theories that he was still alive the new retcon being he fought kabandha and angron before facing horus and still was able to over power the warmaster before using his warp powers and being cut in half to finally put great primarch seeing as sanguinious has his own holiday and is as reveered as the emperor with the great rift it's entirely possible to have him come back. Seeing as the emperor revived guilliman from the god blight body and armor intact with the bodies of the primarchs being physically available he could bring back the two fallen primarchs sanguinious and ferrus

The emperor offered magnus redemption to which he refused if he were to find the 7 shard of himself he may yet accept it, mortarion saw the blinding light of the emperor revive his brother even speak through him before burning the garden of nurgle the emperor mentioned mortarions redemption being possible just not at this time he would have to return to the master he'd chosen nurgle would then suck mortarion back to his realm for punishment, this is something that terrified mortarion he did not wish to return he went back screaming in fear. The traitors Conrad, alpharius, and omegon have interesting possibilities Conrad had a aeldari spirit stone his soul could still be intact the night lords despise chaos and have incredibly pure gene seed possible redemption, the alpha legion are another legion whose gene seed is pure if one of the primarchs are dead or both the return of either or both could see them loyal once more.

So you never read about the character, he's the ultimate struggle between nobility and doing what's right, and falling into your primal instincts of violence and degeneracy, the blood angels follow him because they were originally monsters and Sanguinius molded them into noble warriors, the World Eaters were exactly the opposite due to Angron's actions, Sanguinius character is a lot more complex than people give props too, specially because he tried to sacrifice himself before letting his sons die, there is nothing bland about the most powerful emperor's son, the primarch with 2 souls

His personality is just so bland and neutral to me, the only time I remember him taking a stance on anything was the Council of Nikaea. So you’re saying that sanguinius is getting a power up from all the worship? That is an interesting thing so he is himself yet he is more at same time. He is less than what he was when he died. We do know that worship in the 40K universe has a direct impact on things within the warp. Does this mean that ferrus lead the Legion of the Damned?
