My first seven albums were ventures albums, and that was back when I was a kid and into television theme songs like get smart and Hawaii Five-0, etc. so I grew up to become a musician, a guitar player, and made my living doing that for a short period of time, but I've been playing for over 50 years and I actually had Dick Dale sign one of my Stratocaster before he passed away, but life is interesting and I actually miss the olden days because things were not nearly as crazy and screwed up as they are now...

Sweden's finest - early 60's guitar instrumental at it's best. Polyushka Polye is a tune that survives any treatment, and this tribute to Gagarin really works. Also, somehow, the fact they're wearing suits and ties under that space get-up also still works a treat. Thanks for posting this.

I dont know why i have an obsession with the 60's and everything about it from the music to the clothes. I wasnt born till 1980 but growing up i gravitated more towards bands like the usual suspects Beatles, Stones,The Who and The Kinks. And American acts like The Byrds, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix and Bob Dylan. The whole Mod culture was something i took inspiration from in trrms of how i dress and still do to this day. Anything about that decade and im interested. I think because in the 90's when iwas a teenager alot of the bands coming out at that time were heavily influenced by that era.

From Abba to Bathory, from the Spotnicks to Dissection, this country used to surprise the world; now it's more like ''wtf happened in Sverige?''. By the way, are they still alive? The Spotnicks, that is.

I hear the influence of Duane Eddy here, especially 'Peter Gunn' which Eddy performed in 1959 at least. (The song was released in '59.) However, the Spotniks did something different too, changing up the guitar style in places. I'm so sorry I'm only hearing this piece for the first time in 2024, as I know I would have fallen in love with it back in the early 1970's, playing my parents 7" single collection.

I won't argue that point. I followed DEVO from the very start (in Akron, OH).

Strange, I wasn't aware of this group. I've always liked the Ventures and similar electric guitar bands of the era. I notice Wikipedia doesn't have any chart info for the USA. Were they a thing here in America?

The video features music from the song "Polushko-Pole" - a Soviet song, which, due to its wide popularity, is considered a folk song in the mass consciousness. In fact, the song has its authors: the music was written in 1933 by composer Lev Knipper, the author of the words is poet Viktor Gusev. The melody of the song became the main theme of the first part (Andante maestoso. Allegro) of Lev Knipper's 4th symphony "Poem about a Komsomol soldier", completed in 1934. The song is also performed by the USSR Alexandrov Ensemble (1965) - is available online with English comments.
