I've lived in Forest gate all my life and I've seen many changes, mostly bad. The Spotted Dog was once a kennels for Henry 8th and is thought to have been there since the 1400's. Back around 2000, the pub was bought by developers who wanted to demolish it and get permission to build flats on the site. The council threw the plans out but the developers just left the place to rot. There was a legal battle and the council went in to do remedial repairs to the roof ETC to prevent further damage. It's shocking what some people will do for money regardless of an area's history, heritage and community. Last I heard was there were plans to restore and re open the pub and build a hotel next door. I've got no idea where they'll find room for a hotel. Unless they plan to take over Clapton FC's ground which is just behind the pub. Thanks for the video

@SilverTrowel631 Hi there. Ah, right, you'll sadly have seen the changes "first hand" then." Yes, it has a fascinating history, & and it's such a shame "that the spotted dog has been allowed to fall into the state it's in now." Yeah you're right, thr only available space for an extension, is the football ground. So God only knows = anything is possible if they throw enough money & corruption at it, nowadays. No problem at all, I'll be keeping an eye on it, for any further progress.

Hi David. Lovely old building + a long & interesting history! Yeah, "its grade ii listed = which is why, so little has or can be done with it." 🤞 it survives into the future = a lovely old building like that "deserves to be enjoyed & preserved." ✌️

Lol Teddy = I suppose where I live locally, I don't really take it in! But, the locals don't call Upton Park "UponParkistan" & East Ham "EastHamahbad" for no reason 😉✌️
