Once upon a time I got really mad at Spyderco for producing a dozen dozen knives that are so similar that you can’t even tell them apart easily. Then one day the brilliance of it hit me, and I’ve never had a problem with it since. The “perfect knife” for one person is an *almost* perfect knife for someone else. That other person might say “If it was a little shorter, a little wider, with a little more belly,” or whatever they want to see in a design. So, Spyderco obliges by offering every conceivable variation of their base award-winning design. It’s kinda like that “I play both sides so I always win” meme, only they’re playing all 50 sides.

@@troyounce3295 I just got the stretch 2 in K390. The ergos fit my hand better than the endura and endela, the blade somehow feels longer than the endela or the PM2 when I use it. I specifically waited to pick up a seki city k390 until it came in the stretch 2. I have owned just about all the different seki FRN lock backs but the stretch 2 is the only one whose appearance I actually like as much as I like it’s performance. In a different time I might even say it gives me “the fizz” lol. There’s also just something about the slow roll opening of a spyderco lock back and the one handed two step drop down closing of a lock back that just feels good in “classic” kind of way for lack of a better term.

As much as a love the ergos of a forward finger choil i find it kind of gets in the way a bit. Unless i am careful, whatever i am cutting ends up bound up in the finger choil and i have to reposition and attack whatever i am processing from a new position to avoid that. The endela does not have this problem and has a more neutral handle so its much easier to find a comfortable grasp

k390 is like the knife steel nerds definition of "super steel"... more toughness than typically needed, better than 99% of competing stainless plus it's got edge retention for days. it is also the best feeling (on the diamond stones) of the super light edge retention steels. it's literally the best non-stainless super steel. the stretch is the most interesting platform for the steel, like the Pete said, it's like a lock back PM2... only the stock is 0.11" not 0.14". its cutting geometry is better as well. thinner stock vs PM2 and slightly thinner behind the edge, 0.0017" vs 0.0020" plus the stretch is super ergonomic.

I think it was bentoboxshop or riversedge that had a pm2 sprint run in k390. The other did a sprint in 10v. I think a better comparison from the golden line is the manix 2, of which there is no k390. I say that based on the handle ergonomics. from an edge shape, the manix XL has the closest combination of belly and pokey-tip. The k390 stretch 2 is my choice of sypderco folders for dressing/quartering game animals. There is enough belly to skin, great edge retention, and a comfortable enough grip so that your hand isn't cramping up by the time the job is done. this was a good review and a fantastic video

Another great video Pete, loved the worm update! Bento Box Shop has an exclusive PM2 and Para 3 K390 in Ranger Green Scales, but the base price is more expensive than other exclusives and he charges shipping on top of the knife, so you really have to want that combo to justify the markup.

I bought that K390 PM2. It's a great knife without a doubt but a bit bigger than I prefer for edc. I hate the handle to blade ratio of the PM3 (or maybe it's the ratio in that particular blade shape, I'm not sure). I do love my Native 5 in Rex 45 for an edc. I'd be all over a K390 Native 5, preferably with micarta but I'd be okay with FRN or G-10. I just received the British Racing Green FRN/ ZDP-189 Stretch 2 the other day, love everything about the handle (need time with the knife to decide if I like the drop point blade or not). Also have the Grey G-10/Cruwear Stretch 2 XL on layaway and will receive it shortly, should be a phenomenal medium/hard use knife. I'm tempted to order this K390 Stretch 2 as well, just haven't taken the plunge yet,.

got one, can recommend it. I also got the FRN Police 4 in K390. For me the better choice as I dont really have much use for the skinner-type tip design of the Stretch 2.
