Just got one. I agree with all your assessments. This is the Spyderco I've been waiting my whole life for. Military size, incomparable lightness. Perfect for carrying in lightweight summer shorts. So much more knife than the Bugout for effectively same weight, none. Strong? Time will tell. But I love the design. Can't wait for a carbon fiber and super stainless version!

This is a working mans knife not pocket jewlery or a fidget toy. It's just meant to get the job done and get it done well and the VG-10 is the perfect working stainless steel IMO. Great corrosion resistance, really decent edge retention for how easy it is to sharpen as well. Nice review just ordered one to pair with my Dragonfly 2 VG-10. I figured I already have the smallest Spyderco the Dragonfly 2 so let's go the total opposite and get one of the bigger Spyderco with the Stretch 2XL VG-10 😆

The one thing I’ll say about VG10 is its high corrosion resistance makes this an appealing lightweight folding food prep knife.

Have this SXL and the G10 Cruwear version. Both are exceptional! Fingers crossed for Magnacut or Cruwear or K390 :)

I am sure you actually bought the smaller Stretch 2 straight spine in K390, and not the Stretch XL... the latter does only come in VG10 so far and has not liners (differently to the Stretch 2 you have) - ?

Yeah, I'm sure a prototype or two exists of the Stretch 2 XL in K390, but the definitely haven't been sold to consumers yet.

I'm just not a fan of FRN but I do like the nice thin slicey blade but they should have used zdp-189 instead of vg10. I don't think many people will go for this knife in vg10.

That’s the reason I haven’t bought one yet, ZDP-189 or K390 steel and G10 scales and I’d pay $200+ for a spyderco like that.

I personally prefer the classic clip over the wire clip. I do use a number of blades with the wire clip but most I definitely prefer the standard Spyderco clip. But it's good that we are all unique!

Spyderco is function over form. They're not winning any beauty contests, but they are otherwise brilliant designs. And this one is an absolute home run. A 4" slicey blade at 2.7 oz.? Sign me up!
