In this weeks episode (which is the first of a two part series) we look at the stamps of Malta. Starting with GB stamps used in Malta we then look at the first Maltese stamp, the "1d Pnney" error and include KEVII stamps and all the KGV stamps.

Thanks! Very interesting. I hope you didn't say and I missed it: how would one distinguish between a "washed out" stamp and a lightly coloured stamp? Possibly how clear and exact the lines are?

Thanks for your comments. An interesting question which is not so easy to answer. It's as much a feeling as anything, for me. You are correct, if it's washed out, there is usually some bleeding of the colour or blurring of the edges, but if it's been faded by the sun that's a bit more difficult and you have to look at the overall stamp. The best way is to have a verified one to compare it with, but of course that's not always possible.
