Is the Steam Turbine & Aquatuner combo too strong?
@969Ryu2 жыл бұрын
It's not too strong in my opinion but if you use the power plant a microchip will increase it's power cap to 1275W which does at least give it potential to be net positive. But that's only if you want to sacrifice 5kg of refined metal every 1.5 cycles
@2LegitCity2 жыл бұрын
@@969Ryu thats only true if the steam temperature is around 200c to allow for the steam turbine to be at full power. more often than not, the aquatuner usually hits its target temperature and its activity goes way down and sometimes doesnt even generate enough heat for the turbine to turn on- so i wouldnt actually recommend a powerplant on a steam turbine that isnt showing atleast activity % > 80%, which would be something like research reactor setups or geothermal power builds

i tried my first setup a few days ago. Couldnt figure out why it wasnt working and the tuner started over heating and damaged. Thank you for this!!! now i know what i did wrong.

If you put a liquid resevoir right after the thermo aquatuner, then you'll average the temperature of the coolent used (if at least some portion of water is present in the liquid resevoir). This also gives the smooth flow of liquid through your pipes, especially when using liquid bridges.
@2LegitCity2 жыл бұрын
correct! nailed it as thats the reason to add a reservoir after the AT, but I havent found too many situations that require it

Hey, thanks and, please, show automation and shipping layouts in your videos, they are extremely useful and in most videos they arenow shown and we have to guess what automation straps to what and same for shipping with sensor settings. It will improve design videos GREATLY
@2LegitCity2 жыл бұрын
i try to show them when i can! i thought since there isnt shipping in this design and the automation for the AQ was at 3:00 only for a second but it was a simple connection so i didnt think i needed to dwell on it. pipe overlay is shown, no gas lines.

So I am confused... How does one get the vacuum in a room? I know I can pump everything out,but I can't go in to deinstall the stuff without breaking the vacuum?!
@2LegitCity2 жыл бұрын
you can create a liquid lock to go in and out without breaking the vacuum once its created! dupes won't breathe out in vacuums because thats a response to them breathing in. so that means since theyre holding theyre breathe in a vacuum they cant breathe out co2. but dupes with flatulent trait can rip a fart inside and break it

Can one aqua tuner produce enough steam to make a turbine run at 850 with this setup?
@2LegitCity4 ай бұрын
yes, the problem is that you need to keep the aquatuner running nonstop and let it slowly ramp up the steam to 200c. so you either have to somehow heat the coolant in the pipes or use alot of water. this likely has to be any kind of water or super coolant
@johnc26752 жыл бұрын
What would happen if you pumped in used germ filled polluted water instead of continually reusing the clean regular water? If you had 2 steam generators, could you send in a metered amount of germ filled PW and make enough steam to run both turbines and then just take the germ free clean water from the steam turbine output to a holding tank in order to make free clean germ free water? Then you would not need power or any filter material for a water sieve or need a chlorine room and have extra power to boot. But you may need a way to remove any polluted oxygen depending if it is lighter or heaver than the steam.
@2LegitCity2 жыл бұрын
yup, polluted oxy is lighter than steam so it would block its ports. you could do that but you also have to make sure you can consistently hold the temp over 120c to boil polluted water. although its feasible to do this, its not power efficient because you would have to cool the water back down to be useable for most things

I just try this cooling system in my base but i don't know why it's leaking alway in the same area; since i use petroleum in the cooling system i know it's not water melting from somewhere... The pipes are not breaking but i have to mop petroleum and refill my loop some time (like 50 L) Do you have an idea ?
@2LegitCity6 ай бұрын
that means the automation sensor is somehow not reading correctly/placed poorly because what youre experiencing is over cooling to the point of freezing. when liquids freeze in a pipeline, they break the pipe and drop the frozen version of the liquid- and since its likely in the steam room it would melt right away. so somethings wrong with the temperature sensor- either its set too low, or not placed in the correct position, or even picking the wrong sensor type (gas pipe sensor vs liquid pipe sensor) or maybe not connected via automation wire

Can you show how to make a simple input-hot wat and output set temperature water system? Like input 60C and output 5C? The problem is part with regulating water flow in the system. Thanks.
@2LegitCity2 жыл бұрын
could i ask, why are you trying to cool down the water? most of the time cooling a variation of water from 60c to 5c requires alot of energy and most of the time isnt worth it. this is due to water and its variants having really good stats.
@technoincubus17362 жыл бұрын
@@2LegitCity It is not so much about cooling to 5C exactly but cooling to set temp and building a mechanism that will release any liquit at set tempertaure.

is it necessary to build steam power late game or can you survive with just hydrolyzer?
@2LegitCity2 жыл бұрын
the steam turbine has a heat deletion mechanic when its consuming steam and easy to use, which is the main its so popular. if you want to avoid using a steam turbine, its possible, but you have to be creative in your cooling designs. and also getting lucky with some cold liquid sources like cool slush or cool salt slush geyers.
@moxxy35652 жыл бұрын
Steam turbines aren't great for power (unless you harness magma heat). It's only real purpose in this video is remove heat. If you have a big pool of magma though you could probably run a bank of steam turbines almost indefinitely

Would using the output water from the steam turbine to cool it work with this setup, or would the steam turbine get too hot?
@2LegitCity2 жыл бұрын
given how low the steam turbine stays at, its probably possible to run the output 95c water over the turbine itself to maintain temp- but i have yet to test it on this setup
@СокЧеловеческий2 жыл бұрын
in practice - till you AT generating less than 330 kDTU/s avarage(theoreticaly up to 400 kDTU/s, but there is limitiation from heat condution side from ST to water in exit pipe) For simplicity - up to 56-57% uptime(using water/p-water as coolant), depends to some extent on mass of steam
@3sbon Жыл бұрын
Depends on how hot the aquatuner room gets. Passively cooled steam turbines do work, use hydrogen in the turbine room with radiant pipes for maximized heat transfer.
@baraimz36402 жыл бұрын
How do you make the aquatuner room vacum
@2LegitCity2 жыл бұрын
either pump out everything after you build the box, or you can fill with tiles and decontruct after everything is filled. when you deconstruct solid tiles they are vacuums underneath
@Rayanbd9n2 жыл бұрын
My output liquid pipe always damage why
@2LegitCity2 жыл бұрын
that means the liquid is either too hot or cold, causes the liquid to turn into gas or solid. if youre using water in the pipes and dont have automation + overflow setup in the video, you will eventually freeze the water and it turns to ice, breaking the pipes.
@Anumrak2 жыл бұрын
Put a thermosensor to at least 30C near radiant pipes which are cooling environment you want and connect it to a AT. I figured out that 30C is a perfect range of temperature for auto cooling by AT without bridges.
