For me , The Staple Singers ' performance with The Band in The Last Waltz movie ,is one of the finest of the Rock era . If you haven't already seen the film then please dont wait much longer ...it is phenomenally brilliant ,unsurpassed in musicality and excellence .It really is a must ,must see experience .

One of their classic songs... A hard rain is gonna fall written by Bob Dylan... That was played a lot here in Philly in the early 70s And Mavis had a hit with A house is not a home...

Pops could play! "Somebody Saved Me" " Tell Heaven". "Too Close". " He". The way his playing and Mavis' singing complemented one another. "Will The Circle Be Unbroken" every Wednesday night on the Gospel request program on the radio. I love all of their music , but I can remember clearly those gospel pearls from my childhood; as you get older, they hit different.

People talk about Jazz and Rock for the influence of music today. Not realizing that Gospel is a huge infuence to blues itself. I am a black american. I do not want to get into black gospel with you guys. It wil make rock look bad. Mahalia Jackson was one of my favorite fathers singers who song at the March on Washington

Why wasn't Cynthia Staples mentioned in this video? She was the baby girl in the family, but not mentioning her is so rude 😞 😡‼️ RIP Cynthia Staples 🕊️😇. Thanks for sharing this
