I've used TrackIR and more recently Tobii for years for SC - the Tobii takes a bit more tuning, but the freedom / 'potential' dual-tracking capability ( eyes & head ) capability is just incredible. ♥

Yes indeed. Played with some of the settings while making the vid that made it even better & there's no substitute for being able to see your surroundings without having to change direction to do it.

10/10 recommend Tobii, i got one and its the next best thing to VR, and the ability to look around your cockpit in Star Citizen while your hands are occupied with a HOTAS is game changing.

Best thing I've done with my settings is to set a hotkey to toggle enable/disable head tracking. When I want it, it's there. When I don't (like with merchant kiosks), it's gone in a flash.

Yeah. I got mine when I was playing on a TV. There's a distance limit though. If your TV is across the room it won't work.

I found with the Tobii that I was getting really sore eyes, using them to move the camera rather than using the Z key.

Have you tried the head tracking only? I found that was much more natural than trying to think about where my eyes were going.

then you are doing it wrong.... use head tracking to move your head, and eyes to do targeting, do not use eyes to move the head

Doesn't change what you see in game. Allows you to see your environment. Has that been an issue?.... I imagine the Reshade plugin would solve that problem.

My Question / Problem is I currently don't have the room at the bottom of my monitor. I hear/read It can work at the top but not as well!? Is that true?

According to what I've read it won't work up top. If the room you're lacking is underneath your monitor, that only applies if your monitor is curved, because you need maybe an inch of clearance, but you can still tilt it up. If your monitor is flat, you should be fine unless you have things right in front of the bezel.

@pgrow420 there is a bug on the tobii website where it automatically adds 2 trackers to your cart - it's been like this for at least as long as I have been on the fence trying to justify the price of it for my extremely causal gaming style - almost a year.

I got one of those Head Trackers? Where you have to stick this weird pronged gizmo onto your headset? And the Tobii Eye Tracker is WAY BETTER. It just sits under your monitor, it's super easy to set up and calibrate, and it makes SC WAY more fun and immersive with no headset. Would a full VR headset be MORE immersive? Yes. But also more uncomfortable and generally more of a pain in the ass. For the way I play, this thing is just the best.
