I already have one Lando, I don't need another. I actually use Star Wars Black human males as the Kingpins thugs. They do pretty good and there's not a lot of choice when it comes to Figures that can pass as Street Level guys. In actual Marvel Legends you can pretty much only use Eric Killmonger Mercenary figure, Star Lord, and T'Challa as Star Lord for Street Level Thugs. And, with all the Hi-Tech weaponry in the Marvel Universe, having blasters doesn't matter. Maybe Kingpin got them from Hydra or AIM.

Making new Star Wars shouldn't have been hard. This is Disney. They have a huge stable of teen talent who could have played Luke's students in a Young Jedi series. You could have had Han mentoring some young criminal kid/escaped slave to be an agent. You could have had Leia mentoring some young. starry eyed, politically idealistic New Republic intern in Leia's government office (and she could have been your idealistic mouthpiece). You could even have the bad-guys be this New Order made up of remnants of the Empire and some rich military-industrial-complex business types pining for the good old days when Imperial military spending kept them all rich. (But who's really running the New Order? The only-really-care-about-the-money evil CEOs or the Dark Side ideologues using Sith techniques to brainwash their army of child-soldier storm troopers?) It should have been the easiest money Disney ever made. Just make GOOD Star Wars. Comic writers, novelists, game devs, even fans have been doing it for DECADES. But no, destroying Luke and Han's characters seemed to be priority one with these people. I mean, at this point, it almost looks like Kennedy and others INTENTIONALLY sabotaged the franchise. The consistent level of bad choices at this point look too directed for the tanking franchise to be a function of mere incompetence.
@jonarbuckle778

Ahhh, but their is a flaw with your scheme... Disney would have to pay Royalties to the creators behind such popular content since it's becoming apparent the creators at Marvel and Lucasfilm had much better contracts and royalties prior to Disney acquiring both companies. There is a reason Lucasfilm under Disney's reign de-canonised the Star Wars Legends continuity in favour of their own content, made by new creators under new contracts that treat them like shit. Same with the All New All Different Marvel Era a decade ago that bombed so hard it hit rock bottom and continued past bedrock. It's why the MCU has skipped decades of content in favour of characters like America Chavez, and Kamala Khan's Ms Marvel that were created in the past decade. Disney is a bunch of cheap skate hacks trying to save a couple of bucks at the expense of their creators and the quality of content they release. It's why modern comic books look like shit because all the good writers and artists left probably due to low pay, and Disney replaced them with activists who work for cheap but lack talent. Same with films and TV, all the talent has gone elsewhere because Disney isn't good to their creators.
@liljenborg2517
@liljenborg2517 2 жыл бұрын
@@jonarbuckle778 Ah, but here's the flaw in YOUR scheme: Giving creators five or even twenty five grand every time one of their creations gets a movie or TV series is less than a drop in the bucket for characters with established popularity vs these new characters that have proven to be exceptionally unpopular. If your movie rakes in a billion dollars, tossing a few grand at the family of some dead artist is WORTH it compared to using a "new-ish" character in a movie that barely breaks even because nobody cares about the "All New All Different" characters and is completely turned off by the "white man bad/grrrl power" messaging. Even then, Disney hasn't been using a lot of "new" characters. Phase 4 has had an Eternals movie (not new), Black Widow movie (not new), Shang Chi (also not new), Thor, Doctor Strange, and a Spiderman movie (not new, not new, and nope, not new). And TV series featuring Falcon and Winter Solider, Wanda and Vision, Loki, Moon Knight, Hawkeye, and now She Hulk (all long-time Marvel characters). Only Ms. Marvel focused exclusively on an "All New All Different" era character. Now, yes those movies and shows prominently feature Jane Thor, America Chavez (who isn't exactly new), and Kate Bishop, but they're still having to pay out whatever royalties due out for all the other characters they're using anyway?

That's my reasoning when I used to buy LEGO Star Wars sets back in the late 2010s. I love minifigs, especially those Mega Bloks HALO figures from years back that I still have in my collection (but be careful with their hands - MB HALO figures are notorious for having weak hands that break easily) and I only started on those because the weapons were awesome. I even bought a fair number of Brickarms weapons based on real life WWI and WWII guns to equip those minifigs. I even bought plenty of cheap Chinese knockoffs of Star Wars minifigs (I came across - and still have - a surprisingly good looking Captain Phasma), mainly for the decent-looking cheap weapons. Now I stopped collecting those because all the good sets are no longer in production. Plus I have all I need and I'm directing my collecting energy elsewhere (Warhammer 40k).

The boys in their mom’s basement should watch this 😂 they just can’t figure it out, Star Wars action figures and merchandise are DEAD and the sales numbers along with the 💩 Jeff found in the store just proves what we ALL realize. Ha$bro has run the Black Series in to the ground and I don’t see Andor doing much to improve things 🤣

Love a good WCBS toy video. Surprised the Captain Marvel or the Star Wars (Rogue One/RoS/Solo) toys haven't been sent to a plastic recycle plant for shredding. You know Star Wars is a devalued franchise when you see classic characters like Lando and Vader on clearance. It's good to see short bus Yoda on sale. Grogu was cute for a second then you remember he's a knock off the original & all roads lead to Jake Soywalker in TLJ. As for the Disney/Marvel toys going on clearance at Olly's and other discount stores. No, I'm not surprised given how bad Phase 4 has been and how Disney/Marvel is hell bent on following Disney/Lucasfilm down it's self destructive path.

I was under the impression kids don't play with toys anymore because they're not on some sort of device or game. Also, it might be movie trope or theme saturation. That's what killed Star Trek and the Super hero movies for me. As a toy collecter, if it isn't a vintage G1 Transformer or the Japanese toys from the late 70, through the 80's into the early 1990's I generally don't bother.

I would agree with this comment except for the tiny fact that anime figurines seem to sell quite well. Admittedly, they are aimed at different demographics but still, there should be some overlap.

Depends on the line, type and where you go......The oversimplified, kiddy ones that transform at the push of a button, for example, are guaranteed shelf warmers from everything I've seen! The Studio Series line did pretty well at the stores where I live......They couldn't keep them on the shelves! But now that Generations Legacy line is rolling out, the shelves are starting to clog up, and clog up *fast!*

Marvel Legends needs to get back to 80s and 90s comic characters. Finish off the X characters you haven't gotten to (Feral, Phoenix, Banshee), more 80's Avengers (long rumored riders Hawkeye, Star Fox, Monica Captain Marvel), Power Man and Iron Fist, etc. I don't think the Wakanda Forever wave is going to sell any better, than the last few MCU waves have. They need to have an awesome showing at Pulse Con, that's for sure.

Kids dont play with toys as much as Millennials and Gen Xers did. The demographic that toy makers target are now largely targeted by video game companies. I'm an Xer and my kids never were into toys. They are gamers and now building their own computers and what not. I think a lot of the toys were being purchased by adult fans but that well, due to the abuse the real fans have received, is now bone dry. You said it yourself, you dont buy Star Wars merch anymore. There are a lot of us out there that dont/wont. That has a cumulative effect.

I'm a millennial and almost 30. I outgrew toys when I was 8. Younger millennials like video games. So the fact that these companies aren't incorporating toys into video games is a missed opportunity.

It is Karma for running their whole distribution network without integrity. I run a small toy and collectible business. The big name manufacturers will not deal with you directly. You have to buy through a distributor. You order thousands of dollars of these wonderful products to bring to your customers and they arrive half of them damaged during shipment. Only a small amount, if any, will be mint condition. They package everything half-assed, with the product cases right up against the wall of the shipping box and no cushioning in between. In order to buy the products, you have to agree that they are ultimately not responsible for damage to products during shipment (even though they do not protect the products during shipment), but they will offer a refund that THEY decide is appropriate and it is never satisfactory. Sometimes the packaging is damaged enough where people will not buy it, but we only get a small refund from the distributor. It's a horrible industry that doesn't respect the products.

Part of the reason is the toys are stupid and not fun. It’s all build your own light sabers and stupid masks and staffs.. Like, back when I was kid and the prequels were big you had racks of 3.75 inch clone troopers of all kinds and cool Jedi, vehicles like tanks, speeders and walkers. All pretty cheap too, think most of the figures were $6. But my point is you could build armys, imagine missions and fights and all kinds of stuff. They don’t make star ways toys like that now.

There was 2 Lando figures released around the same time. General and Jaba's Palace both from ROTJ. The Jaba's Palace one just looked really good so I can see why no one bought the other one. It's not bad but the Jaba one just looked so much like Billy Dee that my family bought it the moment we saw it.

Walk through galaxy’s edge. The employees in the store just talk to each other because no one buys any of the toys and such in the marketplace outside ronto rosters. Only people buy the build your own droid or the light saber. The original trilogy stuff outside star tours is very busy. It’s so funny and easy to see.

What a shame, the Black Widow toy does come with a lot of nice looking effect parts, that's more of a draw than the figure itself. You know, it'd REALLY help the industry and planet if there were less of these junk products being made. If there's such low demand, why is the supply STILL so damn high?
@AJadedLizard

Yeah, i thought that watching this. *That* was the kind of toy I wanted as a kid. I had a Jango Fett action figure as a kid who came with two blasters (with molded holsters on his legs), a removable jetpack, a missile and a dummy for posing, his wrist grappling hook, and a removable helmet, plus double jointed arms, and he was only $5. That Black Widow figure would've cost the same price as a new game for my Gameboy Advance, or 2-3 used N64 games. That kinda math sorta of speaks for itself.
