The guy that murdered her had plenty of complaints and cries out from his exs in high school saying he was abusive. Nobody could prove it so nothing happened to him. I wish Silling was still here today, she was one of the brightest souls I’ve ever met.

Well, the mall was already virtually empty back when the murder committed. Personally I think it probably did happen in the mall but, because there’s no security footage, there’s no evidence of how it all went down other than Davis’s confession.

Growing up I remember this was the mall everyone went to, then as you stated Mall of GA and Sugar Loaf Mills Mall came along and unfortunately hurt this Mall. I wanted to add that I remember one time my family and I were going to spend some family time together and guess what? We went to the Mall of GA instead. I went to this mall today, obviously I was only able to see this mall from the outside, there was no security or anyone to ask to see if I could get a sneak peak and go inside. I sure do miss this mall and it's sad to see what has become of this mall.
@MrJestyler3 жыл бұрын
Was a great mall in its heyday. Packed with shoppers almost everyday. Mall of GA, about 10 miles up interstate, opened in 1999 was the beginning of the end of Gwinnett place. Mall of GA is and was a Bigger mall with higher end stores. The demographics around gwinnett place changed dramatically beginning in late 90’s until current. Gwinnett place couldn’t keep up with change and increasing crime around mall kept people away. At one time during late 80’s there was 3 movie theatres around mall with 12 screens in each. Grew up in area before any of it was as there. 🥲

that mall never gave me the creeps. I remember being in it when I first moved there in 2007. It was packed and they used to have a nice spencers, hot topic and pac sun/ I ate at that subway a few times too. Fry was across the street. Shame about the murder. I wonder if I ever saw her?

This really got close to home. We used to frequent the mall in the 90s when it was still very popular. The mall didn't completely close at that time bc they still had stores such as MegaMart, Macy's, B&BW, VS, Gap, etc. When Silling's drawing first circulated on the news, we were all shocked as we had just gone to the Mall a few weeks before. The food court was definitely vacant, but i was surprised that you can still walk throughout the empty mall. When her identity was released, we were all so sad for her and her family, especially in our Khmer community. I remember volunteering at the temple one morning and her family were doing a 100th Day ceremony there. It was kept very private and quiet in there. I went to go pay my respects afterwards. I'm still wondering why an Uber would take ppl to the Mall 4 am in the morning. It's true that the police released a lot of info that didn't make sense. I was also surprised to see the setup of Stranger Things filming there everytime I drove by. The mall has been bought many times and also say they have plans for it, but then, plans were shut down. So now, all the other stores are closed besides MegaMart and perhaps Macy's. They turned the Sears wing into a Covid vaccination center during the start of the pandemic. Just to respect Silling's memory, I think the mall should be demolished and turn into a garden type of park.
